Very private/peaceful area, on cove, not big lake

4 of 5
Overall, I personally enjoyed the stay, is peaceful, close to everything but is not for people with boats or want to be in the mix of things on a big lake. Positives: -Very private area -Paddle boat -Canoe -Swim dock -Fairly warm water -Fire pit -Big property -Near restaurants and the tilton outlets -Good for families that want privacy but not for partiers or people who have a boat that wants to be on the big lake. Not the best but still OK: - It is not connected to Lake Winnisquam it is on the cove that is technically on the lake but split between small trees. There is a few trails to get through to the actual lake. However, the water is very calm and great for swimming and playing in the water. It is what the title says "Cabin on the cove". -The largest Epham cabin that is shown in the pictures where the others is not is adjacent to the Emerson cabin but the Thoreau cabin is across the street -It is not the cabins fault but there is a lot of bugs outside and no way to keep them out of the house -The cabin is a cabin it could be updated but still in decent condition My recommendation is to go drive if you know the location to check out the cabins or areas before you book! The owner Steve is a very nice guy too!

Had To Return

Sit in living room or on deck and see the sunrise and sunset. These rentals are more like homes than rentals. Inside spotless and cozy. Grounds and gardening beautiful and maintained. If you like rest and relaxation while vacationing this is a wonderful peaceful spot. I loved putting on a bathing suit and taking a few steps, voila your stepping into the lake. Their are only 2 rentals so it's almost like having ownership of your own beach. We booked for 2010 upon leaving last August 2009. The owners are wonderful and very nice. If you want things to do you are very close to Lake Winnipisauke, Kellerhaus, Funspot, mini-golf etc. There are also several kayaks available to use. Great spot for a couple or family. I was happy just to stay on property and grill for meals. Can't wait to be there again this year!

We have 3 children ages 11, 10 and 7 and we stay for 2 weeks as we found 1 week just wasn't long enough. We have booked our 4th summer here for another 2 weeks in July/August 2010...we love it! What we love most about this property site is the privacy and cleanliness. The owners keep the grounds, as well as the cottages, in excellent, clean condition. The owners are friendly and always there on site if you have a problem or have questions about where to go or what to see. They have become like family to us. We find our cottage to be spacious, clean, amenable, comfortable and just like home! The kitchen is fully equipped and the appliances are in excellent working condition. The kitchenware is clean and modern. You only have to bring your food! There is lots of clean cabinet space to store your food as well as closet space and bathroom space to store whatever you feel the need to bring. The master bedroom has a very comfortable queen size mattress where my husband and I sleep. The living room has a very comfortable pull out sofa where our three children sleep. The bathroom is modern! There is a ceiling fan in every room which keeps the cottage comfortable day and night. We love eating out on the patio and cooking on the gas grill. There is plenty of chairs and room for a few "invited" guests to come for lunch too! The view is simply breathtaking and it's so quiet. We are also attracted to the sandy, private beach which is on site. The sand is soft and there is a large enough area that the children can build sand castles while the adults soak up the sun in lawn chairs. The water is shallow and gradually gets deeper but is under 5 feet for hundreds of feet out. It's great for the children. We also rent the owners' kayaks. The children have found a place to kayak out and pick enough blueberries to make a pie! There is even a large, famous sand dune to which you could walk or kayak. There are laundromats close by as well as a Market Basket with reasonable prices to do grocery shopping. There are also other types of stores close by if you run out of something as well as brand name outlets in Tilton. We have also rented a pontoon boat from the Marina which is right on the lake and docked it onsite. There is a wonderful seafood place in walking or boating distance too! We would recommend this rental property to anyone and once you stay, you won't want to leave. It is "kid friendly"! Thank you Doreen and Barbara for a nice rental.
