We couldn't have been happier with what became our multi-family-intergenerational home for a week. Everything in the description of this property is true and more! The owners, Sheila and Chris share their love of this house by keeping it in perfect condition and sparkling clean.
As far as amenities go, everything was there that we needed for cooking, bathing, cleaning, and most of all, lakeside fun and time to relax and enjoy being together. Because this was a family vacation, one of the things that impressed us most was the kid-friendly layout. Keeping the kids, four cousins ages 7-9, busy and entertained was one of the things uppermost in our minds as the vacation approached. If you are in the same situation, Not to worry! The 2 kayaks and canoe, fishing off the dock, the pool table downstairs, the fireplace by the beach, and the games and puzzles kept the kids entertained between their made-up games. As for the adults, we could sit up on the deck overlooking Balch Lake and see the kids down on the beach at all times. This was both fun and reassuring. We were able to get movies from Sheila and Chris's exhaustive collection. Cell phone service and internet were not a problem with the Wi-Fi. In addition to our stay at the house, we also took a couple of day trips- one to the ocean and one to the Polar Caves. This broke up the week nicely. We shopped for food in Ossipe at the Hannefords. The World War II museum in Wolfboro was way beyond our expectations. It is not to be missed, with excellent exhibits covering the war effort "back home" between 1939 and 1945. Balch lake proved to be the highlight of our week, with its lovely reflections of sky and trees. The boats going by were not loud and the nights were quiet. We would not hesitate to recommend this property to family and friends who want to "get away from it all"
