The Bathasar was everything we could have wished in a vacation home, and we felt fortunate to spend 11 days there. The apartment is on a residential street just off one of the canals, walking distance from the city centre and close to the Museum Square, public transportation, supermarkets and the Albert Cuypstraat market. It is perfectly clean, beautifully and simply decorated, a pleasure to return to between adventures. The kitchen is well-equipped with an easy-to-use espresso-maker and great coffee as well as everything else we needed to prepare meals and snacks. We really enjoyed the master bedroom, with its exquisitely comfortable bed, fine linens, ample storage, French doors and balcony. The wifi and free international long distance calling were also much appreciated. Fresh flowers, fine linens, luxury bath products, and typical Dutch treats were icing on the cake.
Emelie was very accommodating and easy to deal with right from the first negotiations. She arranged for us to be met at the airport by a taxi which made our arrival carefree. She met us at the apartment and explained everything, as well as leaving clear written instructions. She was very accessible by phone, and gave us lots of helpful advice. Check-out was easy, and after returning home I received a email from Emelie offering to mail me something I had forgotten in the apartment.
We took a number of Emelie’s suggestions for activities, including several museums, a bicycle trip to Waterlands, and a trip to Haarlem and the beach at Zandvoort. As for our other activities while in Amsterdam, we visited parks (Oosterpak, Vondelpark and Sarphatipark), a number of neighborhoods (Nine Streets, Joordan, De Pyjp, Oud Suid, Haarlemmerbuurt, and the raucous centre). To our delight, our trip coincided with the opening of Amsterdam Fashion Week, with "pop-up" runway shows at Museumplein.
We would happily return to the Bathasar anytime, and will definitely recommend it to family and friends.
