First Class stay in the Canal District

5 of 5
This is a fantastic apartment that easily sleeps seven people. The master bedroom has a king bed, two other bedrooms have double beds and a small bedroom has a twin bed with an attached office desk and chair. The fixtures and finishes are first rate. There is only one bathroom, however there is a separate shower and toilet so even with seven people in the house it was not an issue. Richard was a gracious host, available throughout the stay to resolve any issues, of which there were a few. I highly recommend this place.

The BEST!

5 of 5
Staying on the Anjo is the BEST way to experience Amsterdam. It is perfection. Ben, the proprietor, has thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. We visited Amsterdam for 5 nights with our 16 year old son. Staying on the Anjo MADE our holiday perfect. We had our tea in the pilot house with the windows open to hear the church bells; we had afternoon drinks on the patio of the boat while we watched the world float by our canal; we snuggled into our very comfortable beds at night and slept peacefully and coolly (the boat has two air conditioners). Ideally located to walk everywhere, with a great bike rental place (Fredericks) just down the block. A great fancy market around the corner, as well as a more reasonably priced grocery store. Really, this is the way to experience Amsterdam. On a beautifully restored, perfectly situated, most comfortable canal boat.

Exceeding expectations....

5 of 5
We enjoyed a wonderful and relaxing two weeks in the Country and Lake apartment - and we don't say that lightly since we travel with two small children (twin boys of 2 years old).... The actualy apartment, amentities and surroundings surpassed any expectations we had based on the descriptions on the Internet. The apartment is beautiful, clean, tastfully decorated (including beautiful bouquets of fresh flowers), and the view (typical Dutch) is magnificent. Many of the days we were there, we just stayed "home", with the kids playing in the big garden (including sandbox), and us, adults, enjoying the quiet and the view. Or we hopped over the dyke to play on the beach. Or we rode our bikes along the dyke to the quaint little town Edam. One of the days we went to Amsterdam to visit the zoo (Artis) and this was only a 40-minutes drive. Saskia and Onny were wonderful hosts and they helped us make the apartment child-friendly (they had two cribs for us available, put up a gate on top of the stairs, and even lent us some toys for the boys!). We were/are so pleased with our stay at the Country and Lake that we are considering coming back there for next year's vacation!
