Very well situated in a quiet canal in the Jordaan - one of the nicest districts in Amsterdam. Only about 10 minutes' walk from Centraal Station and with a wide range of food and other shops, cafes, restaurants, coffee shops etc. just round the corner. This quirky conversion of a cargo vessel has spacious, relaxing, & and well-equipped accommodation with art a nouveau/far eastern flavour. The owner Ben was very hospitable - we particularly appreciated finding a selection of supplies waiting for us, so we could have a snack and a drink on arrival without even having to do any shopping. The wheelhouse is excellent for people-watching on the adjoining bridge, and if you like wildlife you'll find plenty of waterfowl coming to the windows hoping to be fed. We saw coots, ducks, swans & even a grebe. There's occasional very slight motion from passing boats' wakes, but two of our party are very motion-sickness prone & had no problems at all. The Old Centre & many of the museums are within walking distance - we didn't use public transport at all. If you're in Amsterdam for some time and like museums it's worth getting a Netherlands Museum Card - you can't buy this online unless you have a Dutch bank account but some of the museums sell it e.g. the Niewe Kirk. The boat rental cost no more than a mid-price hotel for three of us, and by doing our own catering some of the time we saved money overall. For eating out we can recommend Stout (Haarlemmerstraat 73), The Pancake Bakery (Prinsengracht 191) and the cafe on the top floor of De Bijenkorf department store on Dam Square. Also the cafe at the Van Gogh museum - avoid the the one at the Rijksmuseum which is WAY too small (vast queues even outside mealtimes). We can highly recommend the "Anjo" and we'd be happy to stay there again.
