Fantastic apartment. Great location.

5 of 5
My girlfriend and I very much enjoyed this apartment and the neighborhood. It was amazing to stay in such a historic building. The place was very comfortable, very clean, and nicely decorated. The kitchen was well appointed and everything - showers, plumbing, appliances, etc - worked perfectly. It was quiet and felt safe. We liked the view, the breeze, and the canals below. I liked the loft area and wish I'd had an afternoon off to just lay up there and read. The stairs are, as noted in the other reviews, comically steep. But unless you've got some significant mobility problems, you'll probably end up just getting some funny travel stories out of them, proof of the historic authenticity of the building. We were able to walk to all the things that we wanted to visit: The Rijksmuseum, the Anne Frank House, the Stedelijk Museum, etc. A lot of just wandering around and enjoying the sights and cafes around the canals. If you have time, walk over and visit the Amsterdam Public Library if you're a fan of architecture and/or books - it's very close. The proximity to Centraal Station (basically across the street) is supremely convenient for getting in and out. There's tons of cafes around and a nice market a block away to stock the kitchen. Marcus and Monique were great hosts. Very accommodating getting checked in after a long night of travel, and very helpful with information about getting around Amsterdam and with information about taking the trains to our next stop, Brussels. Very nice folks all around and we enjoyed our interactions with them. Great trip start to finish and we hope to come back to Amsterdam soon. If this place isn't booked up we'll stay here again! Thanks Marcus & Monique.

Comfortable and clean place to stay - good location

5 of 5
My husband and I stayed here at the end of our Europe trip. We were tired of eating out before we got to Amsterdam so we wanted to stay at a place with a kitchen. If you are looking to save money on your Europe vacation, this is the way to go! Ruth and Kingi were awesome to deal with! Kingi was there when we arrived to give us the keys. The place was clean and I felt as though it was in a safe and convenient area of town. The loft was within walking distance to a grocery store, wine store, and very close to tram #1 (tram #1 can get you to and from Central Station from the loft). We used the tram quite a bit as the central part of the city was about a 20 min - 30 min walk away. There is also a car rental agency across the street if you are thinking of renting a car for the day. We liked the location of the loft as it wasn't in the busiest part of Amsterdam - so it felt quieter and safe. The only thing with this place (as I think with many places in Amsterdam) is there is no elevator - so you have to be ok with packing your luggage up 4 flights of stairs. We didn't mind the exercise! Also, it's a good opportunity to do laundry here. The loft has a washer and dryer and drying racks for those items you don't want to put in the dryer! Overall, great place to stay!

Nice spacious apartment in Amsterdam

5 of 5
We stayed at this apartment for three days in September. The manager was waiting for us upon our arrival and was very helpful with information about the apartment and the neighbourhood. The apartment is spacious and was perfect for two couples travelling together. The bedrooms (king and queen size beds)are far apart to allow privacy and both have nicely appointed adjacent bathrooms. The kitchen is well equipped with newer appliances. High quality washer and dryer are located in one of the bathrooms. The apartment was very clean and well maintained. There is a view of the canal from the dining area and a terrace in the back of the apartment. As with many other apartments (houses) in Amsterdam, there is a narrow flight of stairs to climb to the apartment located on the second level (no elevator) so try to keep luggage light weight. The apartment is in a nice neighbourhood, close to Anne Frank's house and the #3 stop on the Hop On/Hop Off bus route that takes you to all the city's touristic landmarks. We strongly recommend this place for a stay in Amsterdam and would stay there again.
