Good canal house, great location.

4 of 5
Recommend getting about 3 Euro coins and calling caretakers from airport when you arrive. + Great location between Rembrandtplein & Leidesplein. Beautiful canal corner. + great view of canal & canal homes from 5th flr. + comfortable bed. Place was very clean. + pay when you arrive. Caretakers meet you - very nice. + great coffee with coffee machine. - if you're over 6 ft tall be careful. ceiling beams are about 6'4" high. - lighting in bathroom is weak for makeup/shaving. shower is small. - night lighting is a bit cold, bright enough but not comfortable. Overall - major part of great Amsterdam experience.

Our home in Amsterdam

5 of 5
We were a group of 4, 2 couples, who recently chose this apartment for several reasons, but mainly because all the accommodation was on just one level. This proved to be an inspired choice because one of the group had broken her ankle prior to the trip. The steep stairs proved a challenge at first, but this was easily overcome, but the fact that there were no further stairs within the apartment meant once inside life was easy. The comfortable lounge chairs were a welcome relief - to all of us! The apartment was exactly as it appears on the website - it is huge. The living area is well-appointed, very modern - and everything works. The kitchen looks bare, but is actually is very well equipped; everything needed is there but all the devices are hidden away - the dishwasher looks like a cupboard, the exhaust fan slides into another cupboard, etc. We would have liked to take the coffee making facilities away with us! They were efficient and supplied us with delicious, hot coffee. There is ample bench space, making food preparation easy and room enough for more than 1 cook to work at any one time. There is no conventional oven, but we did not see this as problem, as the convection microwave oven was easy to manage - the instruction manual was easy to follow. The bedrooms were comfortable, large - each exactly the same size with the same facilities, so each couple felt well catered for. The bathroom was huge and very modern. There was a bath as well as a spacious shower; soaps, towels and a hair dryer provided. Clean towels were available on application. There was no washing machine or dryer, but Barbara allowed us the use of hers. We negotiated the day and time as it is housed in an area used for her dance students. There was no problem with this arrangement; the machines were very efficient, modern, Miele. They conveniently had an express cycle, which meant the laundry process took just over one hour - for 2 loads. Barbara is an excellent hostess, she is unobtrusive; she answered all our questions prior to our visit, and any we had on arrival. We would absolutely recommend this apartment to anyone seeking quality, comfortable accommodation in an area close to shops - just around the corner there is a food shopping area - especially a wonderful bakery, from where delicious croissants are available for breakfast - a supermarket which supplies every need.

Fantastic Location, Great Apartment, Friendly Owner

5 of 5
My family and I spent a little under a week in Amsterdam and this apartment was perfect. It was in walking distance to everything. We walked every where with many restaurants nearby and a grocery store only 0.2Km away nothing felt unreachable. Besides the location the apartment accommodates a family of 4 perfectly. If you are traveling as a family renting an apartment definitely beats getting a hotel in comparison to cost and how much living space you get. Finally Richard the owner of the property was as nice as can be and it was a real pleasure to be able to rent from someone who showed a great enthusiasm for the city and making sure his guests experience the parts of the city they want to.
