Avalon: Montserrat's Perfect Home Away From Home

5 of 5
My wife and I have been to numerous islands and villas in the Caribbean. We decided that for our 20th anniversary we wanted to go to place that was less traveled and had a flare of uniqueness. After much research we chose Montserrat. Once we decided on our destination, it was time time to find our home away from home. We looked at many pictures and read many reviews, and decided on Avalon. Take a look at the featured picture on the listing and that was the hook for us...and I have to tell you waking up to that view each morning during our vacation was in itself worth the price of the rental. In fact, though we had a rental car , and numerous invites from locals to venture out and do daily activities, we found it difficult to leave the Villa....the pool, the view, the breeze...it was so hard to leave our little piece of the island. If you want a great place to hang out and have a few (or more) adult beverages I recommend The Beach Bar...its a short drive from the villa and is just a fun place kick back and enjoy...enjoyed the food too! Also check out Uncles...loved it. The Villa had everything my wife and I needed. I must say I was a bit nervous about not having AC, but the trade winds and ceiling fans were enough to make sleeping very comfortable....I really don't know what to add other than we were completely satisfied with the accommodations and felt very much at home. Much of that was not only due to the villa itself, but Dyann's attentiveness to our needs and her overall hospitality. This was our first trip to Montserrat and Villa Avalon, but it will not be our last. We plan on returning and will bring friends and family, so they too can experience the simple pleasures of this special destination.

Simply Beauty!

5 of 5
I stayed in this villa with my husband and 3 children! We loved it! The villa is spacious, decorated beautifully, and sits on a large garden with an array of fruit trees. I enjoyed spending the mornings sitting on the balcony terrace overlooking the pool and garden while taking in the sea view and listening to the birds fly by. The villa is equipped with all the modern amenities to make you feel at home. I would definitely recommend a stay at this villa. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer!

The PERFECT place to get away from it all

5 of 5
Arriving at the Royal Palm was like stepping into a brochure; the cool breezes, the lush gardens, the breathtaking views. We arrived by charter flight and were met by a kind gentleman who took us on a 30 minute tour of the island on our way to the villa. Once there, we were greeted by Mr. Pickett, the caretaker of the villa. He was so incredibly helpful with information and just, simply, a man of warm spirit. He answered any and all questions and showed us all the amenities of the home. He also provided rental cars for our party. Many, many amenities are in this fine home. The owners have thought of anything you could possibly need and provided it. (including earplugs, a welcome addition to the cock's crow in the early hours). The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The home clean and bright. The water pressure divine. The kitchen is fully stocked for the person in your party who loves the idea of cooking. The pool area is beyond beautiful as we spent much of our time simply lounging around. There are plenty of shaded areas, as well as the full sun of the pool. And the view!! Gorgeous! The home boasts four bedrooms, one is very private. It also has a terrific tv room separate from the home but, still connected. I cannot say enough about the people of Montserrat. We were lucky enough to visit during the St. Patrick's Day celebration. The warm people welcomed us into the entire festival including the PARADE. Best jerk chicken I've ever had. Arranging our trip with Marsha was a pleasure. She was so forthcoming with information. She was easy to work with and quick to respond to our plethora of questions. She told us the best places to eat and she was absolutely correct. Olveston House was, again, so helpful. When one of our party declared she was a vegetarian, the CHEF came out to offer her an additional option to the menu. Their menu changes daily and is delicious now matter what you choose. We also ate at the "beach bar" as the locals call it. It's actually called the Yacht Club. They have great wings, burgers and onion rings! They say if you drink the water from Montserrat, your soul will bring you back again and again. You do not need to drink from the spring, you simply need to visit this unique, non touristy locale to realize you've been missing out on something truly spectacular....that alone, will bring you back. We would highly recommend this villa and this island to our friends and to you, the reader.
