Best part of our trip to Glacier

5 of 5
Our family of four got to stay here for our trip to Glacier and I have to say that for each of us, staying in this house remains our favorite memory--the lodging is the favorite memory! Yes, it is clearly gorgeous (the pictures do not lie), but what the pictures can't tell you is how incredible it is to either look out the window or sit outside and just be in that awe-inspiring landscape. There is an eagle's nest in a tree just outside, so we saw it everyday, hunting. We saw a literally newborn deer and its mama, right in the field outside; wild turkeys ambled across the lawn, gobble gobbling to their (and our) hearts' content. Morning and evening in the brook outside we saw dozens of ducks / goslings on their daily commute. It was truly astonishing. And it's quiet! You could hear all the animals; you could hear the wind in the leaves; you could hear the water gurgling. The lawns are commodious and proved fantastic for our ten year-old to throw his football with one of us (parents); our younger child is a runner, and to have all that open space for him to run and expend energy was a godsend. My husband loved most of all the views, but coming in a close second was the excellent wi-fi and humongous HDTV (yes, it's true). I loved the washer / dryer and the dishwasher, because I just don't want to go to a laundromat on vacation or wash dishes by hand .... While I know this property is not ADA, I have to say it is remarkably close and very disabled-friendly. Our youngest child has significant ambulation issues and can neither ascend nor descend steps: there is a smooth, easy walkway from parking to the front porch which does have a step, but that's it. And there's a bedroom and full bath (with tub) on the main floor. Because it's an open concept design, he was able to navigate the first floor with hardly any issues, so for anyone who needs smooth, level spaces, this is the place! Additionally, low frequency sounds (like from a lawn mower) trigger seizures in that child, and Tom (owner) so, so, so kindly altered his schedule to mow when said child wasn't in the house (when we were out touring). That's really something. The house is ~20 min from the E. Glacier entrance and we found it a lovely, easy drive; we also easily were able to do as day-trips the Many Glacier and St. Mary's entrances, inc a must-see stop at the Museum of the Plains Indians in Browning. We poked around in Whitefish, Kalispell, and Hungry Horse, too. We loved it.
