Our family, comprised of 6 adults and 4 children (ages 11 to 3), enjoyed another wonderful week at Pam and Dick's beautiful lake home. We've spent week-long vacations on the Gravois Arm of the lake for 4 straight years now, and, after our stay at Finn Inn last year, we decided that it was the perfect spot for us.
The location on the lake is unsurpassed. The Gravois is one of the clear water arms of the lake, and the property is on a no-wake cove on the south side of Soap Creek cove, so swimming off the dock was unimpaired by large waves on other parts of the lake that are caused by big boats or big winds. We were able to find great skiing and tubing water in Soap Creek cove and in Indian Creek cove, just a few minutes away.
The Ehtees made some great improvements from last year, including a paved sidewalk from the house to the dock, increased dock floor space as a result of filling in one of the two boat slips, and the addition of WiFi in the house, which made it possible for us to cast Netflix kids videos to the large flat-screen TV.
We had a problem with one of the smaller Sleep Number beds upstairs, and Pam responded the NEXT DAY by having Tom, the great caretaker of her property, install a new Sealy mattress. Thanks, Pam and Dick!
All of the flowers on the beautifully-landscaped property were blooming, and I couldn't pass up walking by the mint plant without bending down to take a sniff. The lilies were particularly breath-taking in their size and color.
One of my grandsons really came into his own as a fisherman that week - so much so that he kept count, ending up with 40 fish for the week, all caught with worms and bobbers off the dock. Most were bluegill, but he also landed a small channel cat and a small bass.
We made several runs to the convenience store on Highway P, which was indeed convenient. Jeff, the owner, was personable and helpful. We also ran into Laurie for groceries and ate out once there and once down the road in Sunrise Beach.
One day we made a short trip by boat to Jolly Roger's, a lakeside restaurant that features a nice playground for the kids. Although the food was a bit pricey and not the best, the great setting and the fun for the little ones made it well worth the trip.
I can't say enough good things about Finn Inn. Pam and Dick have provided a wonderful lake home that we plan to enjoy for years to come. The memories we made there this year and last year are priceless.
