Fall Family Retreat 2014

5 of 5
We booked this home way in advance of the fall colors....after spending Easter on the North Shore and loving the area's waterfalls that were really rushing at that time of year, with all the winter meltdown we just knew this was a family retreat to book... as life can be short ..... This home in Beaver Bay was gorgeous and accomomodated my inlaws, daughter, son in law and granddaughter who was two. And could have accomodated more! Right on the water with a great wide path from the house to the shores edge. There is a sandy area for a fire with log seating not to mention the spectacular view of Lake Superior. The owners have several tiki lights for the pathway should you stay down by the waters edge at dark. We brought our own jug of fluid for the lights and flashlights so as to ensure safety getting back to the house. Main floor has sliding doors to the huge deck which overlooks the lake, (we took pictures of a ship in the distance from the deck)the layout is awesome... the kitchen is huge, the dining seats 10... the living room has two sofa's and chairs with a half bathroom on this floor....Basement has a full laundry room, sliding patio doors to walk right outside and has two bedrooms and a full bathroom. Also a fireplace (with chopped wood) on both the basement and main level. A full size air hockey table in the basement. Upper(third floor) is a master suite with a gorgeous jucuzzi tub and walk in tiled shower with a private small balcony in the bedroom overlooking the lake. The loft room on the same floor as the mater suite has two full size air beds, but whoever is staying there will have less privacy but a gorgeous view from the tall glass overlooking the lake. I loved this place and will defininetly rent it again. Thank you Dawn for everything. Location and distance to the sights was perfect! Worth every penny. ( onwer is strict so if you don't know how to behave and respect your surroundings...do not rent this place as you will be charged extra.

Incredible getaway

5 of 5
This cabin is amazing! We had a wonderful stay! My wife and I brought our brood up for a week of bonding and relaxation. It worked out perfectly! The cabin is cozy and yet roomy enough. We had a total of 9 adults, 3 teenage boys and an 8 year old boy. We made full use of all the beds and the couches with no sleeping complaints from anyone. The cabin is well stocked from the dishes to the bath towels. No need to pack too much! The decks and the large outdoor table worked well for large meals together and relaxing. Large pines tower over the deck, covering the terrain as it drops sharply to the unbelievably crystal clear waters of Big Sand. The bottom of the entire lake is clean sand. The area around the dock was perfect for enjoying the water. It is shallow with the bottom gradually tapering out. From 2 1/2' at the end of the dock to about 5' a few hundred feet from shore. After that the lake drops quickly to 65'. I recommend checking Google Earth for a little insight to the lakes erratic under water structure. From a boat or the provided canoe the lake offers some great under water views, almost aquarium like. The canoe was a big hit by all and rarely sat idle. After a day in the water we enjoyed a nice warm fire. The fire pit and surrounding chairs made out of tree limbs gave a great woodsy feel. Of course, we used the firewood, fire starters and s' mores ingredients graciously provided by our hosts. Deer and turkey sightings were a plenty and the local shops and eateries were fun. Overall, I would highly recommend this cabin. Thanks to the Marzolf family for sharing their newly found treasure and hospitality. -The Dailys
