Beautiful location, wonderful house!

5 of 5
Our family truly enjoyed our stay at the River Bend Cottage. The property is beautiful, and our children (ages 6-9) loved exploring the grounds and following the stream. The river provides such a pretty view, and the little bridge that you cross over to enter the property is absolutely charming, especially with the nighttime lights on. Inside the house, the beds/pillows were probably the most comfortable I've ever slept in, in a rental home. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need, and then some. We were pleased to find plenty of dishes, a ton of silverware, and every size pot and pan we could need. There was even a crockpot and cookie sheets, both of which we used. We were pleased to find a bottle of wine chilling in the refrigerator upon our arrival, and in the morning, there was package of coffee to make a full pot and an abundance of coffee filters. The owners have thought of everything. It was cold outside, but we had no trouble staying warm inside. The fireplace kept the main floor very cozy, and even a bit too warm at times. Even without the fireplace, the temperature of the main floor was much warmer than the lower level (and a little bit too warm at times, even without the fireplace going). And, we loved having the hot tub. On one occasion, it stopped working, and even though Evan was not in close proximity, he sent over the other Winter manager to fix the issue right away. We were told the hot tub was prone to this issue, but it really only affected us for a short time, since the manager was so quick to come over and address it. Evan was very helpful and accommodating. When we needed the king bed separated into two twins, he was over in a very timely manner to detach and put on new sheets. He also was great about helping us try to navigate our way around town. Even before we left, we decided that we would book our return for next year :-)

Lakeside gem, with every amenity imaginable!

5 of 5
This was our second year at Bass Lake, and it's just absolutely incredible. We spent our honeymooon here last year, and are looking forward to many more fall anniversary trips! We selected this cottage because of the amenities - you couldn't ask for anything more! In no particular order, the cottage has: a covered outdoor jacuzzi, two kayaks, paddleboat, rowboat, firepit, hammock, gas grill, private pier with shallow swimming area, wireless internet, cable TV, gas fireplace, and deck overlooking the lake. And if that weren't enough, they now have a pontoon boat for rent and a *beautiful* bunkhouse with a washer/driver for use. Honestly, if Paul and Jean aren't more careful with their thoughtful and generous amenities, we may not leave to return home next year. ;) The cottage itself is very cozy - even though we've had more rain than sun on the weeks we've been there, we've enjoyed cooking (kitchen has everything you need) and cozying up under blankets with Netflix in front of the fireplace. Although we didn't use the bunkhouse this year, we are looking forward to having another couple join us next year and stay there. It has a two-person futon, *really nice bathroom*, TV, small table, washer/dryer, and two twin beds in a bunk (wish I were a kid again - although it'd be tough to pick between the bunkhouse bunk and the loft in the cottage, which also sleeps two twins). To boot, the bunkhouse is really cute with its natural wood decor. They also allow pets (with deposit and extra care), which is a huge seller for us. We have a dog we love, and couldn't imagine relaxing without him for a week. Traverse City itself is totally awesome, too. Like the cottage, there's something from everyone - indie movies at the State or Bijou Theaters, many delicious dining options, shopping galore (including incredible resale shopping c/o the Resale Trail), biking along the bay path, tons and tons of wineries/tours, etc. The cottage is only 20 minutes from downtown (15 from box stores and Meijer), but because its tucked away on the lake, you feel like you're really secluded. One thing to note: you will need to clean the cabin thoroughly before you leave. We don't mind this and actually kind of enjoy it (almost like we're stewarding it into the future), but dusting/vacuuming/etc. may not be everyone's cup of tea before departure.
