Traverse City get away

5 of 5
Rating Details: I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Gorgeous home and beautiful setting, everything was in perfect working condition. The only problem we had was the fruit flies, I guess it was the season and they were all over the place, nothing we did worked, and it only got worse. Other than that it was a beautiful place to stay at Manager responded on 10/2/2014: Oh yes the fruit flies. They especially love wine and fruity things!

Our Honeymoon!

5 of 5
There don't seem to be the words to adequately begin to express how amazing this home and its setting are!!! We spent a couple of days and 3 nights at the cottage, definitely not enough time. We were warmly greeted by Evan, who is the son of this great father-son endeavor. He was a wealth of information about Traverse City and very helpful regarding things that we should see while in the area. He was also most-willing to help us out with kayaking, since there were kayaks on the property (unfortunately, we ran out of time to go kayaking). Evan had also prepared a beautiful basket for our honeymoon that included champagne and all sorts of great goodies. This was in addition to the GREAT bottle of complementary chardonnay that was chilled and waiting for us!! The house was so comfy and beautifully appointed. Regardless of the room we were in, there was an amazing view to be taken in! The hot tub came in really handy after we spent a couple of our days doing some great hikes. Speaking of hikes, you don't even need to leave the property to take in an amazing hike! Our trip was blessed with great weather and amazing fall colors, which made for some incredible pictures. Wayne & Evan, we could never adequately thank you for making our honeymoon so incredibly special!!! We are so blessed to have found your cottage; it was the icing to a blessed marriage!!!

Lakeside gem, with every amenity imaginable!

5 of 5
This was our second year at Bass Lake, and it's just absolutely incredible. We spent our honeymooon here last year, and are looking forward to many more fall anniversary trips! We selected this cottage because of the amenities - you couldn't ask for anything more! In no particular order, the cottage has: a covered outdoor jacuzzi, two kayaks, paddleboat, rowboat, firepit, hammock, gas grill, private pier with shallow swimming area, wireless internet, cable TV, gas fireplace, and deck overlooking the lake. And if that weren't enough, they now have a pontoon boat for rent and a *beautiful* bunkhouse with a washer/driver for use. Honestly, if Paul and Jean aren't more careful with their thoughtful and generous amenities, we may not leave to return home next year. ;) The cottage itself is very cozy - even though we've had more rain than sun on the weeks we've been there, we've enjoyed cooking (kitchen has everything you need) and cozying up under blankets with Netflix in front of the fireplace. Although we didn't use the bunkhouse this year, we are looking forward to having another couple join us next year and stay there. It has a two-person futon, *really nice bathroom*, TV, small table, washer/dryer, and two twin beds in a bunk (wish I were a kid again - although it'd be tough to pick between the bunkhouse bunk and the loft in the cottage, which also sleeps two twins). To boot, the bunkhouse is really cute with its natural wood decor. They also allow pets (with deposit and extra care), which is a huge seller for us. We have a dog we love, and couldn't imagine relaxing without him for a week. Traverse City itself is totally awesome, too. Like the cottage, there's something from everyone - indie movies at the State or Bijou Theaters, many delicious dining options, shopping galore (including incredible resale shopping c/o the Resale Trail), biking along the bay path, tons and tons of wineries/tours, etc. The cottage is only 20 minutes from downtown (15 from box stores and Meijer), but because its tucked away on the lake, you feel like you're really secluded. One thing to note: you will need to clean the cabin thoroughly before you leave. We don't mind this and actually kind of enjoy it (almost like we're stewarding it into the future), but dusting/vacuuming/etc. may not be everyone's cup of tea before departure.
