Comfortable vacation home!

5 of 5
My husband and I rented the house for our family over graduation weekend. The house was great - they were completely comfortable there. It took them about 30 minutes to get into Ann Arbor for graduation, but it was well worth it. The house had everything we needed for the weekend, including everything from a gas BBQ, fire pit, and lots of serving plates to multiple kayaks and a row boat. It felt like home. While staying at the house, we visited downtown Brighton and, in the past, I've been to Island Lake Park. Brighton is a really nice, picturesque town with good restaurants. Island Lake Park is full of biking and running trails. The listing is accurate about the location , amenities, etc. The property was clean and well-maintained. The owners/managers, Dee and Jerry, were very nice and welcoming. I enjoyed the tour of the house they gave. I would definitely recommend the property to a friend. There are two small things I want to point out. First, there isn't really a lawn. The house is situated above the lake, so don't plan on playing Bocce Ball or anything like that. Second, there were lots of flying insects - they didn't bite, but insect repellent might be a must later in the summer. The latter is likely a problem at any lake house in the lower peninsula.

WONDERFUL vacation at this AMAZING property

5 of 5
I can't say enough good things about this place and the experience of renting it. It had everything; it was like a mini-resort just for our family. We rented it for one week, and commented that we'd need it for at least a month to feel like we fully experienced it. We never left the property for a week, and every day was unique and full of new adventures. We drove the golf cart to the pool, we looked at the most beautiful river view from a comfortable swing bench, we looked for frogs and turtles in the ponds, we used the hot tub (outdoors, so we could watch deer and groundhogs while we tubbed!), we used the extensive indoor game area (with air hockey, foosball, etc), we shot basketball hoops and played tennis on our private court, we watched one of the 500 movies on the big screen TV, etc etc! Our family had a reunion there with 4 toddler/preschoolers, and they LOVED it, and never wanted to leave. There were a few toys for them there too, like rocking horses, a mini picnic table, and a mini wishing well. Everywhere we turned there was something neat that we did not expect. There is one set of stairs between the upstairs and downstairs that you might want to block off if you have a toddler. (There is a stepladder in the utility closet that does a decent job, if you don't bring a gate). The owner, Bob, was a pleasure to deal with and very responsive. He clearly cares a lot about the property, and it shows. Everything was in excellent condition and very clean. He came out a few times during the week to check on the pool and other things. He also provides all sorts of things, like toilet paper, body wash, laundry detergent, linens, etc that many other places don't provide, which is so convenient. It's also worth noting that the three of the four bedrooms can be configured as king beds or twins (the fourth can only be two twins). We had them made into king beds, and they were very comfortable. There is an extra bed in the game room as well, which has a door, so this is a viable extra room for someone too. We have already recommended this rental to many others, and are considering making it our family vacation destination again next year. I made a photo of the beautiful view from the living room window (of the pond and field) my desktop background because I already miss the place. It's really a unique place and experience. Don't miss out!

Family Getaway

5 of 5
We had a great time on Strawberry Lake. The house is at a perfect location on the chain of lakes. The house is beautifully decorated and is very cozy. I love the deck and has alot of room to entire a large party. Rob and Marian were very hospitable with fresh flowers and left us cake from their family party. The house is equipped with all necessities! Our young kids loved it with the huge sand box by the lake and the fishing. They caught lots of fish not far from the dock. We used the pontoon daily and went thru alot of gas. Pizza was fabulous at Zukey lake tavern! Neighbors were very friendly. Would love to spend time with the family again! Awesome place!
