Hope's were high going into this vacation. As a family of seven we were ready to take a week off. This quaint cottage was just what we needed. Walking or riding bikes to the lake was effortless (yes; you read that correctly... Five children under the age of 13 and this was effortless)!! The beach is clean and the water is clear. Even made it down one afternoon and was the only family on the beach for nearly 10 minutes. It's a great spot just down from the pier and within walking distance of two playgrounds to keep the kids busy for hours.
On several occasions we walked/biked into downtown and enjoyed a visit to some of the shops there as well as Foundry Hall a non-profit local community arts center. Most great places in Downtown South Haven are like hidden gems. You make a wrong turn or take a new way and find something extraordinary. We took the kids to the candy shop, the Harbor Toy Shop and to the Michigan Theatre to see a movie.
We then walked down to the end of the Pier to watch the sun paint the sky glorious pinks, peaches and sherbets as it set. It was breathtaking.
At night back at the cabin we started a campfire and roasted marshmallows for s'mores, did fruit filled camp pies and listened to my husband play his guitar. With the kids in bed and a glass of wine I couldn't have been more thankful for the availability and privacy the cottage has of this backyard family space.
When our last full day came to a close we were all appreciative of our time away from home and saddened with the thought of having to leave the next morning.
Thank you so much for such a great week of fun, sun and memories!
