I grew up visiting the Stoney Lake area every summer. I was excited to see this cottage for rent since is right in the middle of where many fond memories were made. I was not expecting the cottage to be as amazing as it is. The view is stunning. We spent every morning drinking coffee while watching the morning sky over the lake. Every evening spent on the beach watching the day set. Every comfort has been considered. There was nothing we needed that was not provided. The cottage has been meticulously restored and is absolutely charming. We came home relaxed and with very fond memories of our week in this lovely We love Pentwater and Holland and spent a couple days shopping and enjoying the local communities. We also rented bikes to ride the trail. We will be back next year...maybe for two weeks!

This was a wonderful and clean cottage with spectacular views to go with it. My wife and I watched the sunset every night from the upper deck, the weather was perfect! When we first arrived we noticed how clean this cottage was and the amount of space there is to relax and cook. The kitchen was fully stocked with any cooking utensil you could need, living room was very comfy and the bathrooms were big enough to fit both of us. This cottage has the perfect location and I will recommend it to my friends and family and I will rent this property again in the future.Who knows maybe a 1st year anniversary trip will be in store for the Meffert cottage. P.S. Doreen was very friendly and helpful throughout our entire stay.

Crystal Lake is a clean, spring-fed lake unlike many E. Coli lakes in the lower peninsula these days (I recommend staying away from nearby Pentwater beaches on Lake Michigan as there was garbage floating in the water there and I got an ear infection). The area is very rural but the nearby town of Hart has quite a few good restaurants, and Michigan's Adventures, Muskegon, and Silver Lake are nearby if you want to make day trips. Overall, this rental was very quiet, with most neighbors gone in August. We were the only swimmers in 7 days there, and used the pontoon and pedal boats quite a bit. There's also excellent star-gazing and I loved the smell of apples and cherries ripening as I drove in the area. The Hart-Montague bike trail is nearby, with an excellent bike rental (The Wood Shed) in Mears if you don't want to tow your own there. I'm a writer and created a short book and pirate treasure map so that my daughter could find toys I'd hidden along the trail. I know misdirection is in some ways wrong, but she loved it. I think she'll remember this trip all her life.
