cozy and serene

5 of 5
Overall the stay was wonderful. Easy check-in, privacy, and secure premises for a vacation built for four. The slave was just big enough for the two couples. Seating in the common room could have been more cozy for rainy or cold days spent indoors. Updated appliances and ample cookware made mealtime easy. The jets in the bathroom were crusty :(, so we skipped a romantic bath. Outside was the hot tub. Upon closer inspection, that too was too dirty for our taste. The filter seemed to be lined with something unpleasant. We weren't there for the tubs. We came for the lovely view, kayaking, and breezy decks. All was wonderful. The garage wasn't open when we arrived, so we were slightly unclear on parking. Mostly, we enjoyed the early season quiet, bird watching (ample species) and access to our own amenities. Neighbors were a little loud at night according to the light sleepers in our crew, but we all wish to return.

Wonderful stay !

5 of 5
My husband and I recently stayed at this home with family for a week. We were pleasantly surprised at how convenient the locations is to the ever-quaint and historic downtown Douglas. We enjoyed brisk, winter walks with the grandkids to Bayou Park, Beery Park and the local bowling alley. It was also an easy walk to get supplies at the grocery store and share wonderful meals at the Wild Dog restaurant. A short, mile drive and the grandkids were sledding (safely) down the dunes at Oval Beach. The house itself has a very welcoming feeling with all the new furniture and gorgeous, scenic views of the Kalamazoo river. We are looking forward to visiting again in the summer!

Wonderful Wintery Getaway

5 of 5
Stayed for a 3-day extended-family weekend with Janice C. (see other review). We selected this location for the cozy looking couches, the fireplace, and plenty of extras that would entertain our group during the weekend. A blizzard was approaching, along with frigid temperatures, so we knew we'd mostly be indoors. What a treat that weekend turned out to be. The owners were super easy to work with, and helpful, but not at all intrusive. Before we arrived, I contacted the owner and she helped me arrange for a bouquet of flowers to be placed in the master bedroom, as a special treat for my mother. The owner took care of everything and the flowers were perfect! After our first night there, the expected blizzard was in full force and one of our cars was stuck in the snow. Not only was there someone there to plow the driveway/walkway, but he also got our car unstuck. Nice! Nearby was a cute little family owned grocery store called DeMond's. They had everything we needed and even brought the groceries out to the car for us. Back at the cottage, life was good. The photos do not show that the living room, kitchen, and pool/ping pong table are all in a large Great Room area that looks out to the water. This open space concept is ideal for a group vacation. While cooking we were not isolated from the group and had everything we needed close by. Of course, there are individual rooms to retreat to, but most of our time was spent in that space. Literally, everything we needed was provided, and then some - large ice machine, tons of cooking utensils, spices, oils, vinegars, Keurig, cozy blankets, and more. It's also really nice that every bedroom has its own bathroom - great for privacy. There is a how-to binder that explains everything in the house, and includes information on the area. On our final day there, the skies cleared, the sun shown, and we all enjoyed a day walking around Saugatuck and doing some winter shopping. Just enough was open to make it fun, but not crowded. We all talked about wanting to come back during the warm weather months to enjoy all of the outdoor perks offered at this location. Nicely done owners.
