ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL SCENERY AND WILDLIFE.

5 of 5
This is a beautiful home with everything you could ask for. The kitchen is well stocked and huge. The master bedroom is beautiful with heated tile and a rain shower. The upstairs had its own balcony so the kids could watch the boats. The stairs down to the lake are steep. There are three flights, it is quite the workout. At the bottom there is a beach to lay out and build sandcastles. Getting to the water was muddy, but Lois has a boat you can use and it was smooth sailing. It was so quiet and peaceful. Just what we needed. When you stay there, there is a brochure for the biggest ice cream scoops in the thumb. Go there!! It was well worth the drive!! We will be back!! Thanks again Lil & Lois!! PERFECT FOR A LARGE EXTENDED FAMILY STAY

4 of 5
My extended family, consisting of 16 people (adults and kids) stayed for a week. Having previously rented 2 to 3 smaller houses/cabins for summer get-togethers, we decided we actually prefer the single house arrangement after staying at this house. Meals and planning for the day were both much easier, and amazingly, we all felt that we had plenty of space with the basement, vast front yard and beach area. The rooms were set up perfectly for privacy, they were very comfortable and cool at night, there were plenty of bathrooms/showers/sinks for all, and the kitchen supplies were plentiful. It was also nice to have the washer/dryer. Our highlights were: camp fires and ghost stories every night (a guy up the road sold us a big trailer of cut oak for $10). We appreciated having sufficient chairs in the garage for all of us. Camping in the front yard for a night. Kids playing baseball, football and lacrosse in the big front yard - endlessly! A trip to Frankenmuth to the Adventure Park, a high ropes/zip line adventure course, then big chicken dinner at Bavarian Inn, and driving through the wind farms/windmills through the country side on the way back Ice cream at the Chill Zone in Port Hope - twice (huge servings for cheap!) A family "polar bear plunge" at Harbor Beach (the week was a bit chilly!) Kayaking along the property's beach and biking on M25 (we brought our own kayak and bike) Afternoon jogs/walks on the paved trail at Harbor Beach, also the Maritime Festival there Sanilac Petroglyph State Park south of Bad Axe - a guided tour of the glyphs then beautiful hike around the grounds Lots of puzzles, naps, reading, watching the kids run around, family meals A couple of suggestions from my family were: Perhaps a clothes line or drying rack available for swim clothes and beach towels We loved the downstairs bedroom, but had hoped that the screened-in porch had open screens (there were windows nailed in place still from winter) The dock was sagging; if we returned we would want to see it repaired (we all understood the crazy winter MI had this past year) There was debris on the outside of the back of the house - bugs and cob webs, etc. Perhaps a power wash would help? (Although I imagine it builds up again fairly quickly..) We had hoped to do a 2-3 hour kayak trip out of Port Austin, but the weather never cooperated. There is a longer trail by kayak to Turnip Rock, and I imagine that would be a great day adventure in that area.

FANTASTIC FAMILY VACATION SPOT!!

5 of 5
We just finished week at this beach house and are wishing we were still there! The location right on the water is perfect...and the huge sandy beach was so fantastic. There was a big group of us and there was plenty of beach room for suntanning, building sandcastles and even a family baseball game! The hottub was a hit on the cool days and the firepit was used every night for s'mores and late night talks. All the beach toys and kayaks were great to have there to use. We had both the main house and cottage and there was plently of room for all the family and friends we had coming and going. Nice kitchen, easy for cooking and the big dining room was great for feeding everyone. We all had a wonderful week of playing in the sun and water and made wonderful memories. Everyone left hoping to make this an annual trip!
