Great, Affordable Getaway

5 of 5
We were so pleased with our accomodations -- they exceeded our expectations. The cottage interior is cozy and comfortable, done in" pure Michigan" knotty pine; the full-size kitchen and outdoor grill are perfect for enjoying local foods your way (but if cooking's not your thing, Bud's and The Hofbrau in Interlochen are two great casual dining options); the heating system worked well on the chilly weekend of our stay; ditto the nice hot water, something we don't always experience Iin rentals. The bedrooms were small but comfortable. There's a nice view of and easy access to quiet Bass Lake. The property is just minutes away from Interlochen and is also a convenient base camp for day trips to Benzie County, the Leelanau Peninsula and Traverse City. The only caution I'd offer about the property is to be careful using the rustic stairway down to the dock, just because one of us was nursing a temporary infirmity.

Wow!

5 of 5
We absolutely loved this place. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. There was plenty of wood for cozy fires in the fire pit. The property itself is incredible. Very private, peaceful and relaxing, yet only a few miles from the town of Posen if you happen to need anything. We spent a lot of time lounging on the deck facing the pond, enjoying the breeze and watching the various wildlife. We enjoyed a bit of fishing. There are acres of beautiful woods to hike through. It very much exceeded our expectations. We're already talking about when we can go back, as leaving such a wonderful place was the only sad part of our getaway weekend.

Cute cabin on a lovely river

5 of 5
We spent a lovely week at Woolly Bugger Lodge with our adult children and standard poodle. We canoed and kayaked, visited Sleeping Bear Dunes, Traverse City and Crystal Mountain (right around the corner), antiqued, played games indoors and out and enjoyed the plentiful firewood and fire pit. The cabin is on a small rise on the bank of the Betsie River with a path and steps down to a dock. The cabin has a couple of kayaks to use and one of the paddles was missing. A phone call to the owners resulted in a new paddle overnight shipped so we had it available for the remainder of our trip. Thanks, Renee. The upstairs sleeping was warm (no a/c), but with skylights, windows and fans it was okay. There are no close grocers, but there is a gas station/C-store about a mile away. We loved the T.V. room/porch and book and game library. My husband read three of their books in the week we were there. There is a gigantic charcoal grill that we used one evening. One morning we awoke to 47 degrees (in August), so we kicked up the furnace which kept us comfortable as well.
