Great family vacation! Going back this summer!

5 of 5
This was our first time to Lake Leelanau and we had a great time. This location was perfect for our family reunion, where we actually rented 3 different cabins, including the Cozy Chalet. There was plenty of space for getting together in the pavilion for cookouts or even in the porch areas for the adults while there was room to play games for the kids. We stayed in the Cozy Chalet, with 3 kids upstairs and two sets of adults in the two bedrooms downstairs. It was good sized and clean. The air conditioning and washer / dryer were great for the long stay, which is something that you don't always get in a rental. The owner was very helpful in setting things up and was around every day to ensure our vacation was going well. The views were great from all rooms, even the Cozy Chalet which was slightly up the hill had a beautiful view. While there is no beach, the kids did play in the water and Lake Leelanau has several sand bars that we took the kids to on a boat. Finally, it was only about 20 minutes to the sand dunes of Lake Michigan when we decided to take a trip. All in all, an excellent vacation and we are coming back in 2013!

Best Ski Vacation House

5 of 5
We just returned from a fabulous ski vacation at Shanty Creek, and one of the best things about our trip was where we stayed. We loved, loved the chalet! It truly felt like our home away from home and not at all like a rental. The chalet is new and well-kept. There are flat screen TVs in every room, and DVD players in all but one. And while the TVs in the bedrooms and den are small, we hardly noticed. There is also a big DVD collection with something for everyone. For a winter vacation, the attached garage was a godsend and having a full laundry room was tremendous. We were a party of 6 adults and 1 teenager, so there were plenty of beds. We could have slept 3 more in beds and then there was the pullout in the den and then many other foldout options. There were also tons of blankets. The chalet stayed nicely heated, and we never ran out of hot water. And one of our favorite things about the chalet was the outdoor fire pit. We had a gathering one night for friends and family, and it was a big hit. The one thing that the chalet doesn’t have is an indoor fireplace, and while it would be a nice addition, we didn’t really miss it. In short, the property was as described above and better. We all loved it! We hope to stay at the chalet again on our next visit!

This is the place to stay!

5 of 5
I was planning a family gateway up north, and the biggest decision to make was where to stay. I wanted to go to different places, including Mackinac, Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Travel City... so the location was very important to us. Once I saw the add for this Chalet I initially thought: "This is too good to be true". (Actually it turned out to be even better than expected). The first thing I did was to contact Jim; he was extremely nice, very reasonable, helpful, enthusiastic, and efficient. It was a pleasure to make business with him. Once I got to the Chalet, it was exactly what I expected... actually it looks even better than the pics. It is gorgeous! Just by the lake with a private beach. The Chalet is equipped with everything you need. Four bedrooms with ceiling fans and an amazing balcony in the second floor, two bathrooms with enough supplies, very nice fireplace in the living room, brand new plasma, big kitchen with everything you need. But the best part is the view! Gorgeous view... to seat by the lake, bonfire, some grill, and relax. Everything the add says is there. The property is in perfect conditions. Jim makes sure that you feel at home, and actually provides you with a Binder with all the activities, dinning, Marinas of the area. I felt I was in a Resort. We were there late May and actually were able to swim in the lake. I am from Dominican Republic and you would imagine that I am used to great beaches with white sand. But this was actually very nice. The Crooked Lake had very clean water, sand up to ~1 mile, calm.... it was perfect. The location was one of the best things. It was really central. Just took us 25mins to get to Mackinaw City, 10mins from Petoskey downtown, 15mins from Charlevoix, about an hour from the Dunes (Traverse City). It made our lives easier. We spend all mornings traveling and knowing these amazing places, and in the afternoons enjoying the Chalet. I am a physician working at the Detroit Medical Center, and I can guarantee that you will not regret renting this property. Jim is amazing and he will make sure that you have everything you need.
