As the name implies, this house is located on the edge of the woods. Rustic hiking trails (a bit rough, but fine for the hearty) on the property take you to three bridges crossing a brook and a decent sized creek. Evidence of wildlife is every where. The place is about a mile from a beautiful Lake Michigan beach. It was not a hard walk to the beach (which we did often), but we used our car when we wanted to take a beach umbrella, blanket and other supplies for a day at the beach. The beach reminded us of of 7-Mile Beach in Grand Cayman in that it extends for miles along Good Harbor Bay. Unlike 7-mile beach there are no condos, hotels, homes, just miles of wilderness beach walking. The house itself is fully equipped, not sparsely equipped, like some condo rentals you will find. It feels like a home, not a rental. The deck is large and so relaxing. The main floor bathroom is all ceramic tile and no barrier for the shower. A ramp at the front door makes access to the house easy, as well. In the national park, be sure to see the Dune Climb and the Pierce Stocking Scenic Trail. We highly recommend this place. Look up Leelanau County or Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore to find all the restaurants and other things to see and do.
