WONDERFUL ANNIVERSARY EXPERIENCE

5 of 5
We could not have been more pleased with our choice. From the moment we pulled onto the property, we knew that this would be a wonderful and relaxing experience. My wife and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary with a week long stay. The cottage and guest house are very well maintained with nice touches throughout. It was also a first rate starting point for exploratory travels from Frankfort to Northport (and many points in between) as well as must see destinations such as Pierce Stocking Drive. We were fortunate to have visited the magnificent Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore 2 days before the government shutdown forced its closure. For those who enjoy a nice hike, the payoff at the end of the Old Indian Trail is not to be missed! The many wonderful little lakeside towns with their unique gift shops and array of dining options kept us afield for a good portion of our week here, but it was always nice to come back and sit down by the lake to watch a sunset or just gaze at the stars that you don't ever get to see, living in Chicago. Getting back to those "nice touches" though. I was quite surprised to see how much had been thought of here on behalf of the traveler who arrives not really knowing what to expect. The large kitchen area is surprisingly well equipped with most everything you'll need to create meals, and even included a French press coffee maker in addition to the regular drip machine. Heck, it even included the coffee, cream and sugar! Bedroom furnishings were quality and the beds (1 in main house and 1 in guest house) were quite comfortable. Outside, a Weber grill, charcoal briquettes and lighter fluid were at our disposal, along with an array of watercraft and life vests and even "floaties" for little kids. Firewood was provided when it was time to get a fire going in the ring for S'mores. In all, we found this to be a wonderful little cottage with plenty of room and it was clean, comfortable and very well maintained. Big Platte lake, lapping against the shore in your front yard, makes a tempting case for staying home with a good book, but the area is rich with activities you won't want to miss. Great time!

LOVED IT

4 of 5
We loved the house and the area! The pictures of the house on the website do not do it justice! You should update your pictures. We were close to everything we wanted to do. The house was immaculate and well taken care of. The only issue we had was according to the pictures on the website there is a view from the house to the lake and the beach across the street. There isn't a view from the house. We did have access to a private beach but had to walk down three houses. We went to sleeping bear dunes, played golf at Arcadia Bluffs and Crystal Lake, shopped in Frankfort and Traverse City. Went a a catamaran ride in Traverse city, played tennis, went kayaking. We had dinner at Fusion in Frankfort, Boone Tavern, Cherry Hut, Papanos Pizza, played putt-putt. We would recommend this to family and friends and most definitely come back!

YOUR PRIVATE PIECE OF HEAVEN

4 of 5
I stayed at the cottage last year during the spring, while the house was being renovated. The house had a very quaint rustic feeling that was very therapeutic for a city girl like myself. The wood work was beautiful!! There is plenty of space and privacy and glass windows to observe the plethora of wild life guaranteed to visit you! I spent sunsets kayaking from the backyard to the river not far away. Hiking and running trails were close and endless. The dunes are so much fun and provide great opportunities for panoramic views of lake michigan. I even saw a black bear in the swampy area. There was plenty of migrating and native birds to observe while having my organic morning coffee from the market basket not far away. I miss this place. It is so tranquil and such a vacation from the fast paced city. The owner sent me photos of the upgrades done after I left, and I absolutely love them. Such a cute cottage! I will be back some day and look forward to coming back to this recently upgraded cottage.
