Great Stay!!

5 of 5
Great place to stay!! The owner was wonderful to work with, the house was gorgeous and cozy and the location was absolutely perfect for our ski trip. The beds were super comfy and we slept great. We had a toasty fire going in the fireplace after getting off the slopes. My favorite part about this house was the heated floors in the bathrooms!!! Definitely had the cabin-y feel I was looking for while being luxurious at the same time. Its the little details that count in making a trip extra special and I have to say if that is what you are going for then this is the place for you!

Terrific find in Harbor Springs

5 of 5
We needed a place in Harbor for our family to gather for the holidays, and this house really pulled through for us. Much larger than it appears online, with beautiful updates throughout, the house exceeded our expectations in just about every way. My 2 brothers and I all brought our families, and there was plenty of sleeping space for all 6 adults and 4 kids -- including a cozy guest cottage where my newlywed brother and his wife could escape our toddler racket. The living and dining room areas are huge and open-plan, connecting to the kitchen via a large island that became the focal point of our family gatherings throughout our stay. The kitchen is large and very functional, with all the cooking and cleaning gadgets you'd expect. If I had to point out a shortfall to the house, it would be that the bathrooms are small, but that's really a function of the fact that this is at its core an old Harbor Springs cottage; the work that has gone into additions and updates over the years has really improved the livability of the space while preserving its original charm. Outside, the house has an enormous deck and backyard looking out onto a wooded creekbed -- so that, in addition to room for kids to play football, you get a good sense of the Michigan north woods, even though you're in town. Geographically, if you're looking to be in town, you can't really beat this location. The house is up on the bluff overlooking the harbor and Little Traverse Bay, and while it's a short block back from the bluff itself (any closer and the rent would have to go way up), there is a partial water view from the master bedroom, and you only have to walk about 30 seconds to see the whole panorama -- easily one of the best harbor views in the country. The neighborhood is upscale and quiet, easily within walking distance to downtown, although you do need to be ready to climb back up the bluff. Needless to say, from Harbor you have great access to skiing, hiking trails, beaches, boats, golf, shops and restaurants in Petoskey, etc. The owners were very thoughtful and went out of their way to make sure we would be comfortable -- from putting up holiday decorations to having a good stash of coffee ready for us on arrival. We couldn't have been happier with this house and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

50th Wedding Anniversary Family Gathering

5 of 5
This was the perfect lake house for our family of 14 (8adults & 6 teens) Plenty of room inside, large screened-in porch & huge deck. The 1st night were were treated to a spectacular sunset and were lulled a sleep to the sounds of the waves lapping on the shore....AAaaaa. We are a family of great cooks, so we made good use of the well equipped kitchen and the gas grill. We brought most of our food as the IGA is 25 mins. away. (You can get bread, milk and eggs in the village.) Our favorite hangout was the sandy beach and fire pit for S'mores. (So glad we brought our kayaks and we used them every day. We had bikes too, but did not use them much) The Tunnel of Trees, pot pies from Good Hart General store, Zip line at Boyne Highland, shopping in Petoskey, Mackinac Is., Leggs Inn, we did it all and still had plenty of time on the lake. Early a.m. strolls along the shoreline looking for Petoskey stones and watching the bald eagles were my special "me" time. The owners are easy to work with and respond promptly to any questions or concerns. We left relaxed and refreshed and wanting to return.
