Rustic Cabin

4 of 5
The property was exactly as it is portrayed: rustic cabin in the woods. The lake was perfect for a large group of young kids who were happy to spend the day catching minnows with buckets and take the paddle boat out for a ride. Lifejackets and beach toys were available. LOVED having a washer and dryer so we could go home with suitcases full of clean clothes. Cabin was very close to a descent size town which made for easy grocery shopping and had many family friendly restaurants. We also found a nice little park in town as well as a mini-golf course and go-kart track. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a true cabin experience.

A Fantastic and Unique Summer Getaway

5 of 5
The Honeymoon Cabin, and the entire Wild Winds vacation area, is a wonderful way to take a step out of the every day stresses of life and into peaceful serenity. A small group of friends and I rented the cabin for 7 nights this past week, and we could not have possibly been more satisfied. To start, the listing is completely accurate, aside from the fact that it does no justice for how beautiful this location is. And that really is it, location, location, location, this spot needs to be seen in person to truly understand how great it is. Firstly, the cabin we stayed in, "The Honeymoon Cabin", was neat, clean, and surprisingly larger than we expected. This size was of course much to our delight, for the price of rent, there is really no going wrong with this cabin. The bathroom and kitchen was stocked with the necessary dishes and utensils, the bathroom was full of clean and folded towels, and the bedrooms were each neat and incredibly comfortable. All in all the cabin was cozy, and perfectly livable, no complaints from our end at all. The next big part of the stay was the lake, which is right next to the cabins. A small stone stairway leads down to the beach and dock. Here you'll find multiple boats, chairs, and a fire pit. Lake Wequas itself is large and peaceful. There is no wake, and there was never more than 1-2 other boats on the water while we were out. The canoes are extremely fun, and for those who don't feel like rowing, there is a quality 3 seated paddle boat also docked on the shore. Swimming is great right off the beach, me and my group spent a fair amount of time wading in the water and playing frisbee. Sunsets over this lake are absolutely breathtaking. So if you're looking for site with a clean, swimmable, boatable, and beautiful lake, this is a great bet. The suite of cabins is surrounded by acres of forested land, easily explored on the well kept hiking trails. The forest is speckled with different sorts of wildlife and is more peaceful and secluded than you can imagine. A short hike through the woods will lead you to what is, arguably, the most incredible location on the site, the ponds. Secluded, cool, and just awesome to look at, I personally have never been somewhere as special as the ponds. Swimming, boating, fishing, or just relaxing on the dock, any amount of time here, is time well spent. Moral of the story, if you're looking for a cabin in northern Michigan, stop looking! I drove all the way from Chicago, its worth it.
