The previous 5 star reviews are absolutely accurate. It's hard to add more to a review of this property so I'll try to break it down to include items not mentioned.
The Owner: William was great!!! He supplied a ton of information before, during and after the rental. There were no surprises, up-charges or hidden fees. William supplied detailed information on the area, property and Long Lake, both verbally and by email. William responded almost instantly to emails and telephone calls. We ran into one small problem with a misplaced boat anchor and William had it replaced with a brand new one within 16 hours. (Kudos to Hiede, the cleaning lady who bought the anchor - best wishes on your new baby!!!).
The Area: Great Michigan lake town. Delton, MI is a small town with a grocery store, gas station and Grove Street Cafe, an awesome country restaurant. You are close enough to drive to several local breweries, wine tastings, golf courses and even a casino in the Kalamazoo/Gun Lake area.
Long Lake: This is a nice 270 acre all sport lake. There is an access area/boat launch which appears to be open to the public, but we darn near owned the lake during the week. We never had any problems while using the pontoon boat, kayaks, or just lounging near the dock or floating deck. We saw people fishing, swimming, skiing and jet skiing throughout the week, but it was not crowded at any time. If you need to visit a larger lake, Gun Lake, Gull Lake and several other lakes are within a 20-30 minute drive. We truly enjoyed the feel of Long Lake whether we were pontooning or just taking in the sun.
The House: Amazing!!! The previous reviews spell it out. The pictures are great, but they don't give true justice to this residence. The floor plan, facilities, decks and extras are laid out in an open flowing design which made life easy and enjoyable for the week we stayed. The hill is steep and will be a challenge to the elderly or handicapped, but we had a group of 6 in our adult family and we truly appreciated the property. We took advantage of the pontoon rental (local rentals at other lakes were about $1200/week for similar pontoons) and all types of outdoor activities. The house was well stocked with beds, linens, cooking appliances, dishes, washer/dryer and even a Keurig coffee maker.
So... this was our first vacation home rental and it will be tough to beat which means we will be back!!! Thanks Willie for a great family vacation.
