Stellar in every possible way !!!

                                          5 of 5
I felt so fortunate to have been able to stay here ! Marlene went out of her way to adjust her schedule so I could rent her cottage at the last minute. It was the perfect place for a retreat and renewal.... peaceful, relaxing, and visually stunning inside and out. The cottage and setting are breathtaking... The architecture allows for maximum enjoyment of the expansive views of the sandy beach, dunes, and Lake Michigan .. I could simultaneously watch the full moon set over the Lake and the sun rise in the East. The starry night sky and horizontal lightening displays on the water were all viewable from the master bedroom as well as from the living room and deck. The furnishings and amenities are beautiful , comfortable, and thoughtful. Marlene has provided lots of resource material ( Birding books, binoculars, and a guide to the area Nature Preserves), a well equipped kitchen, a wonderful music system, quality linens, beautiful artwork, a comfy hammock overlooking the Lake, and everything needed for the beach. Her desire for all who stay here to have a memorable and special time is evident in all she has done, and continues to do for all of her renters. And we thank you !! All types of sea birds grace the waters and beach in front of the cottage. A mature bald eagle soared past me on the deck (a first for me )...and one morning during coffee I witnessed a juvenile bald eagle perched on the neighbor's catwalk railing. There is some beautiful hiking at the adjoining Wilderness nature preserve at the end of the road and accessible from Route 119. If you decide you want/need a dose of the city life, Petoskey is only a 25 minute ride away. I highly recommend the bookstore ( McLean and Eakin) , Grand Traverse Pie Company and the grocery store . Check out the Tunnel of Trees drive on Route 119, and make sure you enjoy a meal at Legs Inn in Cross Village ( request outdoor seating). A drive over the Mackinaw Bridge is well worth the panic attack that may ensue mid-crossing. When you make it across, check out Clyde's drive-in diner on Route 2... I hear the burgers are great. (Unfortunately, he was closed for maintenance the day I braved the trip). Everything about my experience was terrific at this Cross Village cottage ...It just does not get any better than this !! and my dog was appreciative that he could come, too :)

                                          5 of 5
My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at this Cross Village Cottage. The cottage has been fully remodeled and is conveniently located to explore everything from Charlevoix to Mackinaw City. Lake Michigan is a shore walk across the road. The Port of Cross Village offered beautiful sunsets. It is also a short hike to Leggs Inn. And, don't miss the Good Hart General Store--they offer everything from U.S. Postal Stamps to property (it really is the Post Office and a real estate office) with good conversation and food. Wilderness State Park, the lighthouse, and the International Dark Sky Park are must see sites. But once you arrive at the cottage you will not want to leave---it is as advertised: comfortable, well appointed, room for the whole family and more. With plenty of gathering space to enjoy. Can't wait to return for a weekend this Fall to enjoy the color. Great job Mike we hope to return often.
