We stayed a week after the July 4th holiday and goodness we were impressed by this cottage. Since it was built in 1891 it had tons of character and was surprisingly quite big (there are 3 living rooms). There were 9 people staying at this cottage and there was plenty of room for all. There is a large side yard that can be used for just about anything (games, tents, smores, etc). The back porch was perfect size for all to gather as well. Here are the highlights if you are considering this place: - Great location, very short walking distance to the marina where you can rent boats, SUPs, wake boards, etc. Also just a short drive is a grocery store and rite aid. There is a private beach that you can also use while staying here is is perfect for little ones as it's quite shallow. - Extremely clean, we were very impressed with how clean this entire cottage was. The place was immaculate! They also had many items that you would normally need to purchase for other rentals (like dishwashing detergent, condiments, etc) - The owners are very kind and very attentive. We had several phone interactions with the owners Jeff and Margie and they were also very helpful. - The lake, wow! Beautiful Diamond Lake is a perfect place for fishing (we caught quite a few different kinds), for swimming and relaxing with kids there is a large sandbar for hours of fun and of course the wake boarding was awesome due to the rather large size of this lake. We have already started to plan for a trip back next year.

What a wonderful place for our 50th wedding anniversary. We had alot of room for our family (three kids with their spouse, 8 grandkids (one grandson just married and one grandson with a great grandson), and our 8 year old beagle, minnie). Pontoon was very nice for evening rides on the lake, some did do some fishing. Ted was right about where to get smoked ribs, they were great.

We showed up with a fairly large group of 25-30 years olds (about 11 of us) and 2 dogs. Everything was clean on arrival and as promised. Deck was huge and fit us all perfectly. The kitchen was full of basic necessities for cooking that we didn't expect to have. And of course... fires on the beach + the awesome pontoon boat made the weekend. A little bit of fishing/ bbq'ing/ swimming (after finding a spot without seaweed) - all a great time. City nearby has all the basic necessities and the organic farm has a fantastic selection of meat! Just be prepared as the incline from the beach to the house is a bit steep but doable. The smokers in the group had to deal with it :) Dealing with the owner and property manager was painless - really nice people! Overall a great time. The much needed weekend escape from Chicago that we hoped for.
