Beautiful, secluded, relaxing vacation home

5 of 5
At the risk of sharing this "secret" called Burt Lake, I had to share our positive review of this home. Our group of 10 arrived to a welcome gift in the kitchen - cookies and pie - and all the wood stacked for a bonfire on the beach. What nice touches.

The home - inside and out - is just as pictured. One nice surprise, the common areas are wide open - the kitchen, living room, dining room and sunroom all flow together. The kitchen and bathrooms are updated and much nicer than a rental house needs to be. The bedrooms are small and comfortable. Two of the bedrooms are master suites, which is perfect for two families traveling together.

This home itself is in the perfect location. It is on a quiet dirt road, set back far from the road and close to the water. You hardly notice the neighboring houses due to the gorgeous, mature trees and each house has such a huge lot. The lake frontage is sandy, shallow and not weedy. The homeowners just added a mooring buoy so we were able to tie up our pontoon boat and fish every day. If you bring or rent a boat, the community boat launch is a very quick two-mile drive away.

Burt Lake is amazing! It is a huge lake with clear water, a sandy / shallow bottom, and hardly any boat traffic even when it is busy. During our visit we learned just how desirable the west side of the lake is - where this beautiful home sits. The water was as calm as glass for 6 of our 7 days. The breezes cool the house in the afternoons and evenings (of course there is air conditioning, but we didn't turn it on during our stay in August). Although it would be easy to travel to other northern Michigan cities from this house, we appreciated how secluded and relaxed it was. We ventured out to Petoskey (25-30 minutes) for ice cream at the Bob-In Again, Pirates Cove putt-putt golf and last-minute groceries.

The owners were easy to work with during booking and very helpful when we forgot multiple items at checkout. Overall, we highly recommend the home and we can't wait to return!

Wonderful Property on the quiet part of Burt Lake

5 of 5
We spent a week at the Spullers home in late July and absolutely loved it. The house is set up so that a large group can both gather and find some quiet space to escape and read (etc.) They had all of the kitchen supplies one would need ot make a big meal, including a wonderful commercial grade range/oven combo. The lawn and deck area were great for relaxing and taking in the views across the lake, We also rented a home 2 doors down as we had a large group. The lake is nice and sandy in this area and our kids had a blast swimming out in front of the house. We rented a Tri-Toon at Indian River Marina and moored it at one of the 2 moorings they have in front of the dock. All in all, a great week and wonderful hosts who were there to greet us when we arrived and were available for questions all week.

A great week in a great spot

5 of 5
We stayed in this lovely waterfront guesthouse for a week. It is really well designed and furnished, the windows are placed to take full advantage of the breezes off the lake, and the air conditioning unit worked very well on a couple of extremely hot days. The kitchen is well equipped, and the layout of the cottage makes it very comfortable and practical. The hosts, Jess and Pam, were very welcoming and gave us great suggestions for bike trails and restaurants. The description on the website is very accurate, everything was impeccably clean, and we look forward to returning here again.
