This is such a wonderful comfortable place, this will be the third summer we are staying here-the owner Myra has always been great to work with. The cottage itself has everything we need, all the modern conveniences with lots of storage, and has always been super clean. The private setting of the cottage offers peace and quiet from our busy lives and the added entertainment in the form of ducks, hummingbirds, frogs, and other critters. There's so much lake frontage to enjoy and is ideal for just sitting in the water and enjoying the day. The lake is large enough that boat traffic isn't a problem and we caught fish without putting in much effort. The boat ride around the lake and down the Black River is very relaxing. Nearby is a converted rail-to-trail that runs along Mullet Lake for bike riding and the Black Mountain recreational area has hiking trails. Cheboygan is just a short drive away for groceries, dining, and exploring Lake Huron. I would recommend this cottage to anyone who is looking for comfort and privacy, yet desires to be close enough to restaurants, shopping, and recreational opportunities. We've vacationed in northeast Michigan for many years now and this is truly one of the best cottages we've stayed in.

Wonderful Week!

5 of 5
Dear Betty: Just wanted to thank you for a wonderful time. We arrived on July 6 to a beautiful home in pristine condition which is how we left it. Everything about the house worked for us. Our 2 1/2 yr old grandson claimed the sun room for his own on the 1st day. The toys in the closet were a bonus. Indian River sports center delivered a boat to the Black River Marina launch and we were off on a perfect week adventure. The fishing was good but the frog hunting for our grandson was even better. We only had one mishap when he cast himself with his pole off the dock. But he was wearing a life jacket and his dad had him out of the water before he realized he was in. Thanks for everything. Another family vacation a vivid memory! Sincerely, The Tibbe and Merrill families.

Vacation

5 of 5
Excellent location, shallow water provided safety for 4yr old adventurous daughter and she was able to catch numerous fish,"did not get to swim due to temp but would be perfect for kids or getting a nice cool down for adults". Saw a lot of bigger fish cruising in the river, the canal in front of cabin and main lake. Cabin was clean and comfortable with all firewood provided, large enough inside and outside to accomodate big family. Peaceful with a lot of winged wildlife around always. Caretaker came over and introduced herself upon our arrival very nice and helpful with local food, boat launch info etc. Excellent food short distances away. Would and have recommended to family and friends at work and hopefully returning next year when temps are warm.
