                  Perfect Family Getaway

                  5 of 5
My husband and I and our 5 children plus another family of 5 had a wonderful weekend getaway in this unique and comfortable chalet. It was set up perfectly for both of our families. The kids could hang down in the basement and play games and watch tv while the adults gathered in the large living & dining room upstairs. We truly enjoyed the large wood burning fireplace all weekend. We were there just at the end of snow season and most had melted away, but the younger kids still had a blast exploring among the trees in the spacious area surrounding the house. We will be back again next year during ski season, this house was perfectly located for easy access to the hill. The owners were wonderful to work with, very helpful!

                  A summer review

                  4 of 5
There was 5 of us and we loved the view, the wild turkeys, the horse farm and riders. The house has great views, comfortable beds, great decor, was very clean. We had a James Bond marathon each night after coming home from playing golf or tourist in the greater northern MI. Great TV and surround sound. We had a honda pilot and a toyota prius, since was summertime we both could make it up the drive and around the house with no problem. If have more vehicles or don't want to drive on the sandy driveway you can park at the end of the blacktop and walk in. I can see in the winter you would need a 4wd or all wheel drive if there is snow. Gary is wonderful to work with and in his contract he mentions the high mineral content in the water. Beware: take your own drinking water for drinking, making coffee etc, the sulpher and iron content is high in the water. I would have given this place 5 stars but I can't recommend using the clothes washer since the minerals will stain your clothes, one of our friends find out the hard way, you will notice it on the towels. There is a laundry mat across from Glen's Market. We recommend Short's Brewery, Toonies, The smokehouse and Moka's in town. Over on Torch Lake is Docksides, typical bar type food but neat place to seat outside. The area is mainly golf, mountain biking, hiking and boating/kayaking in the summer. If get a chance travel a short distance to visit Traverse City and Charlevoix. If want to find petoskey rocks go to Fisherman Island State Park just south of Charlevoix.

                  ABSOLUTELY PERFECT

                  5 of 5
We just returned from a wonderful week with our family at Runnin Bear. We had seven adults and our two little grandchildren and we couldn't have had a more perfect spot for our family vacation! The home is absolutely amazing and impeccably clean! We could all spread out as we pleased and each of the bedrooms were so big that each family was able to have their own sleeping space with the most comfy beds!! Having a full bath on each floor was also a real plus. I can't say enough about how nice the house was. It literally seemed like something from Better Homes and Gardens all decorated in a "beachy" theme! Big flat screen TV's, pool table, lots of games for the kids, a fully stocked kitchen with very nice cookware and dinnerware......everything was top of line both inside and out. Absolutely nothing missing!! The wrap around deck had very unique furniture, with lots of places to sit in the sunshine or relax in the shade. The house is very secluded, yet close to many of the fun tourist spots. The little ones loved the sandbar and beach at the Dockside!! The girls did some fun shopping at both Bellaire and Alden (cute little boutique shops) and the guys got some golf time in at three of the area courses. They didn't have much luck with the fish.......but maybe next time. Kudos to Linda on her organization with the entire rental process!! She is a great communicator with her renters, including sending out a complete packet of information on the surrounding area listing all events occurring during the time of your stay. We have rented in various areas in northern Michigan for the past few years and Runnin Bear is certainly at the top for a perfect vacation home for a large family!! Our family would highly recommend Runnin Bear and we look forward to returning to the Bellaire/Torch Lake area in the future. Thank you Linda!!
