Peaceful Au Train beach cottage

5 of 5
This was a wonderful place to get away and relax. My husband and 2 older teen boys really enjoyed the private yard and beach. The beach is unique with its slab stone bottom. The boys really enjoyed walking, swimming, and skipping stones at this beach. We enjoyed nightly campfires (these keep the mosquitos away too). This is wonderfully centralized location for day trips to Marquette/Presque Isle, Munising, hikes at Pictured Rocks, or for kayaking the Au Train River or Lake Superior Shoreline. A word about water conservation at this cottage, we never had any problems. We were careful to not let the water run while washing dishes. Knowing that we needed to be more aware of our water usage made us feel like better stewards of the land. It was the perfect place to get closer to nature without having to give up the comforts of a new, clean, modern home: electricity, water, comfy beds, smart TV (loads of DVDs), washer/dryer, and gorgeous views. We put away the technology for most of the week (although we did use our Verizon phones and Wi-Fi hot spot). We spend all of our days away from the cabin, hiking, bike Grand Island, visiting Marquette and Grand Marias, enjoying a coffee in town, and kayaking along the Pictured Rocks Shoreline (Uncle Duckys). When the sky turned dark and the fire burned down, we found ourselves sitting around the dinning room table playing cards and dice games, laughing and talking with the kids. We couldn't have asked for a better place to reconnect and relax. Thanks! Michelle

We've never been so relaxed

5 of 5
This was our first time to the Upper Peninsula and this set the bar pretty high. This cottage is the perfect place from which to explore and we hiked, biked, fished, kayaked......and were so relaxed. Lovely setting and Nancy and Jack are simply the most wonderful hosts. We have rented through sites like this several times and this has been the best experience yet!

Loved it, loved it, loved it!!!!

My family and I recently spent 5 nights here, and it was the best vacation we have ever taken. The property was spotless, and the description and photos provided were completely accurate. We were walking distance to the beach, a party store, a place that rented pontoon boats, and another place that rented kayaks and canoes. We were about 35 minutes from Marquette, and spent one day there...great little town with very friendly people. We also drove into Munising a couple days (about 20 minutes) and spent some time at the Pictured Rocks. Beuatiful property, great location! We plan on trying to go back next year!
