The website description of this property was right on! We were delighted by the privacy and sense of remoteness. The photos showcase the property very well.
Our family of 8 adults and 3 children (from both coasts) had a great reunion together at the Lake Allegan house. Even though there was lots of rain in Chicago, we had sun and warm weather everyday! We swam everyday! The water was shallow enough for our kids (ages 6 and 1) and delightfully warm. Several of us kayaked and paddle boated around the lake. The lake is a perfect size; we hired Chase for a 1.5 hour pontoon ride around the lake.
The screened-in gazebo was a hit, especially for after-hour card games.
The bunk room can sleep about 8 people which is great for a family or a bunch of kids. But, there was one down side: the peg-board wall in the bedroom is common with the large family room. So after the kids' bedtime the family room was off limits due to noise.
Some of us went to Saugatauk for the afternoon, we went to Lake Michigan one afternoon and on another day we visited the new Virtue Cider House in Fenneville only a few miles away. They gave many free samples and showed us the facility. Nice! There are many things to do in the area, but mostly we were all happy to stay at the house and enjoy the relaxing and beautiful surroundings.
Everything was as advertised - Terri and Joe were most helpful. I would recommend this house for sure.
