Family Villa close to a non-crowded, great beach

5 of 5
I am German and have been living in Mexico for the past 14 years. My family and friends from Germany asked me to organize a family getaway (and their standards were pretty high: close to the beach and town, close to grocery stores, things to do nearby, clean and safe housing). We were a total of 6 adults and 1 child. As soon as I spotted Casa Passalacqua, I knew that this would be the winner home! I sent around 1000 emails with questions to the Eleonore and at all times did she reply quickly and friendly clearing my doubts. Finally, we arrived to the home and I must say it is as the pictures show. I was blown away from the wonderful beach: white, soft sand with few people only and perfect to take a swim in the warm water (even during winter season!). We took the big umbrella from the house to the beach and were always in the shadow. My 2 year old son was able to run around in the 1st floor since there is lots of space for it. When you go upstairs there are some openings in the staircase where a 2-year-old could fit through. So, just be careful when going up and down the stairs with a small kid. Carlos was very helpful at all times - just 1 phone call away he was always there for questions and concerns. Also, helped us to get the DVD going when some cables were disconnected. The lady that comes and cleans the house is very nice and trustworthy. You can never actually tell if she is there because she is so quiet and private that you just notice when the sheets are new on your bed and everything is clean! No concern at all to leave all your belongings in the house while she is cleaning. We had a great time going on tours that were organized by some of the many operators along 5th avenue. We got some good deals and got picked up from the Playacar Palace (6 minutes walk from the house). We enjoyed going to Cozumel on a snorkeling tour (walk to the ferry about 15mins), Isla Mujeres and Tulum and Coba. It is worth getting to know the ruins of the Mayan Culture - but also very crowded. You should maybe go there with a rental car and then get a tour guide in front of the entrance of each ruin. We were lucky with only 1 rainy day, but we had fun doing some games, watching videos and playing with the kids. The house is so big, you don't actually feel all the people that are in the house. I can highly recommend this villa for your family vacation if you are planning a beach getaway in Playa del Carmen and I will look forward to an opportunity to go there again

Great Place to Relax

5 of 5
We have rented several units through VRBO in Mexico and Hawaii. This is by far the best that we have ever stayed in. First of all, there were no surprises except maybe its location and view is breathtaking. What you see in the pictures and writeup is what you get. This property is very roomy, was clean and had everything we needed for our two week stay. This unit literally sits on the beach (second floor) and you have a wonderful panoramic view of the beach and the Sea of Cortez. Second, Henry was an absolute pleasure to work with. He answered all our questions in a timely fashion. Denise, the property manager who will meet you when you arrive, was also available for assistance, which is not always the case with VRBO properties. We did not rent a car as we were not interested in touring outside of San Jose or Los Cabos. But the lack of a car was not an issue at all. The Mega store is a 15 to 20 minute walk and taxis outside the store will run you back for $100 pesos. In fact $100 pesos will get you just about anywhere in San Jose or back to your condo. There is also a taxi stand at the Bel Air Resort. You can catch the Ruta del Desierto bus right across the highway and it will take you to Los Cabos for $35 pesos. ( just make sure you catch one stopping at the Puerto Parasio mall.) The closest restaurant is Sardina Cantina, about 5 minute walk. It has good food, a great staff and reasonable prices. Cynthia's Fresh Organic is also a good bet. It is located near the Mega store. In summary, this property met our needs for a wonderful, quiet, relaxing winter break. If you are looking for party time, go stay in Los Cabos.

Lovely!

5 of 5
The 2 of us stayed in December for 8 days. We have been to Cozumel and Residencias Reef before and just keep coming back. Jodi's condo was perfectly sized for the 2 of us with plenty of room to relax indoors or outdoors. She has recently renovated the condo and the furnishings are beautiful and colorful. What we enjoyed the most was the terrace area just outside the sliding door. This area has been enlarged and a former hottub area is now extended seating area. It seems to be a more useful purpose for the space since we would not have likely taken time to fill a whirlpool tub. However, we did sit out there every morning and evening and enjoy the view and email with our family via WiFi. We really like that we can stay in touch with home through the vonage phone and the WiFi. Thank you so much for that amenity. Another beautiful part of the condo is the large shower. Perfect after a day of diving to wash the salt off. We recommend this property for anyone who wants to have a clean, lovely place to stay! And, in December, we had most of the property/beach to ourselves! We couldn't believe it!
