WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL!

5 of 5
We took our family of 8 adults (72 - 17) and 1 toddler to Casa Macumba for a week. There really aren't enough superlative words to describe how the staff and facilities are the perfect setting for a relaxing vacation. Carmen's food was magnificent and she needs to write a cook book. With a fabulous chef on the premises, there's no need to go elsewhere to eat. (Have her make you mahi mahi; it's the best I've ever eaten.) Fernando, Jovana, Marita and the rest of the staff were all great, as well. The property is immaculately kept and you can eat fresh mangos when they fall off the trees. (I highly recommend the mango margaritas.) The rooms are all comfortable and have excellent air conditioning. The beach is white sand and the water is crystal clear. You might get the impression from its fence that it's unsafe, but, it's not. We didn't even lock our doors at night. It's fairly secluded when compared to other beaches in the area. We made the mistake of having someone other than Casa Macumba arrange our transportation from the airport. BIG MISTAKE Instead, just let Blair (the owner) know the particulars of your arrival and let him arrange it. We used them on the way back and it was half of what we paid to get there. It was much more relaxing and so much better than staying at a hotel where you're just another anonymous client. Casa Macumba makes you feel like family and my family didn't want to leave. Their first question at the airport was... when are we going back?

AMAZING!! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

5 of 5
In a single word, this place was AMAZING! We stayed for a week and had a fabulous time lounging by the pool/beach, strolling the deserted beach, kayaking, dolphin/whale watching, exploring the island and resort on our golf cart...and so much more! We literally saw dolphins, whales and all sorts of wildlife every single day! And, I'm not kidding -- there was literally no one on the island. Not sure if it was too hot or what, but we had the place to ourselves! This was the perfect place to relax and get away from it all, plus it was really easy to take the 10 minute ferry ride into La Paz for dinner or an evening of exploring. La Paz itself is a really cool little city that sits on the most amazing bay. Its truly goregous and calm -- highly recommend getting out of the tourist traps and explore what this safe little city has to offer. A few caveats to all the amazingness... - La Paz is HOT! sand gets hot and staying by the pool/water is a must during the days. - For all the cool outdoor space it had (firepit, outdoor grill space, bar...etc), the place needed better, more comfortable outdoor lounge seating to relax and sink in comfortably. Don't get me wrong it had tons seating options -- but none of them were truly comfy. It had 2 dining tables with dining chairs, beach loungers and bar stools, but is in desperate need of a outdoor sectional or a sofa or chairs...or something. Humberto, this was my one complaint, invest in some good, comfortable seating options for the outdoor space! Something near the firepit and also something for the corner near the grill and bar area. :) Even with the non-comfortable outdoor seating, I highly reccommend Humberto's place. Book it now -- you will love your trip here and enjoy every minute! Also, thanks to Martha and Stefan as well -- they were very helpful and accommodating during our stay.

PERFECT!

5 of 5
We took this trip to Mexico because we were looking for a nice relaxing stress-free getaway. Villa Ventura was exactly what we needed and much more. The location was perfect; and the views breathtaking. Upon arrival at the villa we were greeted with fresh guacamole and salsa (best I’ve ever had). We ate breakfast at sunrise and dinner at sunset on the main level terrace overlooking the ocean. Having a chef made all the difference for us. We didn’t have to spend time thinking about food or planning our day around meals. Beto was an amazing chef! All of our meals were delicious…I highly recommend the red snapper and shrimp. In addition to being a great chef, Beto was also very helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating about other attractions and activities. All of the staff was professional and friendly. We stayed in the master bedroom near the pool. The beds were very comfortable and the sound of the ocean at night was soothing. The Semi-private beach (shared with only a few other villas) was beautiful and clean. We found that we didn’t really need or WANT to go anywhere else…there was plenty to keep up busy at the villa including; laying out by the pool or on the beach and reading, ocean swimming/snorkeling, kayaking and spear fishing. However, the villa is just a short and inexpensive cab ride to old town Puerto Vallarta. Villa Ventura will have a lasting impression on me. In some ways it has spoiled me, I am not sure if anything else can compare… We will definitely return.
