A wonderful Sorpresa indeed!

5 of 5
We were so pleased with Casa Sorpresa! It truly is an oasis. Upon walking in through the gates you are welcomed with large shade trees and the fountain…and of course the beautiful salt water pool! The open air living and dining spaces were so lovely in the shade especially with the hammock during siesta hours. The pool was our highlight! It was pretty hot in May, but having the pool was just perfect. The air conditioned rooms are spacious and very nicely decorated with brightly colored bedding. There were ample towels available, which was great since we were swimming multiple times a day. I was also surprised at how quiet it was at night in the bedrooms and what a lovely neighborhood it is. The market/restaurant next door was great for smoothies and/or breakfast in the morning. And around the corner was an excellent food truck with amazing coconut shrimp and fish tacos. The pizza at Venezia was great too- all within a 2 minute walk. The beach is truly just a block away and there is a great tienda with fresh produce not too far in the other direction. The kitchen is well stocked for basic cooking needs and there is filtered water provided (in the bathrooms too). All in all we loved this place and would book it again in heart beat. If you are looking for a wonderful gem away from the noise of town but close enough to everything (and not up a long hill)- this is the place for you! We highly recommend Casa Sorpresa!

Perfect hideaway / Perfect relax

5 of 5
We went there during semana-senta, driving from Puebla to Sayulita 12 hours, but have to say it was worth it. The little village has it unique atmosphere which I could not compare with the big-fancy-hotel-resorts. In Sayulita, the life has stopped for a while, despite it is visible that this hideaway is somehow quickly catching-up with the tourist boom. Still, falling asleep with local-night-street music, later being woken up by the sound of roosters, then going to the local little street store and buy fresh fruits and vegetables, seeing all people relaxed living in their-own speed of life, kids running around, street-dogs just hanging out totally harmless, taco-places, restaurants, coffee places ... it has its magic. Good, finally about the property, the magic house where we stayed. It is approx. 5 minutes form the beach and the "downtown" of the village. To access it, you need to walk about 100 meters uphill, but is a good exercise, to be honest, we loved it, makes your heart pump a bit :-) but the view on other hand is veeeeeery nice, especially whereas you have the view on the whole lagoon. The garden was very well kept, it is visible that the gardener was coming there very often. You have 2 sun-beds available to enjoy the sun also privately, without being seen by any neighbors. A coconut tree was making a nice shade for a while, which we enjoyed as well, also a nice sound in the evening and a weak wind/breeze was playing with its leafs. The property gas a beautiful and romantic kitchen, full of colors and small details of items, which I would buy as souvenirs probably, typical mexican things. There is nothing you miss in the kitchen. Close is a back-yard grill with tables and chairs, was very useful when we grilled the fish which we caught in the sea during our boat-trip. Rooms, myself with my wife, we stayed in the room connected to the kitchen, was a very nice room, tall ceiling, mosquito net over the bed, comfortable bed, cute bathroom, many towels, nothing more you need. Our friend was sleeping upstairs in an open-space balcony, we were jealous at him, was very cool. It has a single-bed, and this room is more of a type of dining-room, but is possible to be used to spend the night … however this person needs to use the bathroom downstairs in one of the rooms. We had a great time there, enjoying every minute, felt somehow like home … and this is probably the purpose of the owner when they built it … can only recommend !!!
