There's a reason we keep coming back!

5 of 5
This was our third stay at Tres Vistas and every single time has been amazing. First two were big family visits and we pleasantly packed the place. The most recent visit was a long weekend grown up getaway for my wife and I. Our first ever in three+ years! It was the rainy season which actually made it even more enjoyable. The rain took the edge off the heat and generally only rained in spurts. We lounged in the pool as the rain came down and it was quite nice. We had breakfast made for us every morning by the very pleasant staff. We gave them a list and they did the shopping for us. That was a nice change! We kicked back at the beach and went to several excellent restaurants - La Palapa (fancier), Joe Jacks (crazy good fish n chips), Cafe De Olla (shrimp and twice baked potato!), Aloha Cafe (next door to La Palapa, chill at the beach here, great ceviche and cheap drinks). Also, the taqueria at the base of the hill is excellent. Be adventurous because ALL the tacos are tasty! If you like off-roading, you have to do the Adventure Tour at the base of the hill the house is on. We've done it every time we've been and I LOVE IT! It was pretty wild the first time we did it but they've upgraded all the rides to ATVs and Razors and modified the tour so it's scenic AND fun. I love this place and will be definitely be going back. The rooms are all roomy, clean, and private. When we've been there with the place packed you can scurry off to your room, close the door and read without being bothered! Very important. Also, the Master is amazing. This was our first time to get to stay in it and it was worth the wait. The house is on top of a very steep hill which allows for spectacular views from the pool and the house but that also leads to my only complaint. If there are older people in your party, they will not be able to walk it but there are cabs everywhere. There is almost always one at the base of the hill and they are easily called to the house sand are are very cheap.

Amazing

4 of 5
This is a great property, extremely well maintained. Very spacey and ideal for 4 to 6 people. Plenty of towels, modern kitchen , huge fridge. The water pressure is excellent. We had the doors to the pool open at all times, used the AC only in the bedrooms, the setup is great for taking advantage of outside/inside. We actually never went to the beach, we used the pool more. The owners are also great and very responsive, before, during and after. When we go back to PV, unless we buy something, we most definitely will make a reservation there again. Only thing missing was someone making our breakfast... But this made us get out if the house everyday. Sally/Phil, THks again ..it was a great stay.

Casa Marfil for a month!

4 of 5
Our stay at Casa Marfil was wonderful. The actual house is beautiful. Laura and Oscar (the caretakers) are wonderful people. We had a lovely time in Puerto Vallarta and in the house. The neighborhood is beautiful- we got to know the owners of the abarrotes (corner store) and several of the neighbors on the street. There is a great little farmers market a few blocks away where we got to know the butcher and several of the vendors. Puerto Vallarta is a magical place. The palapa on the roof of Casa Marfil housed us for many hours as we drew pictures, painted, played games and chased lizards. The porch off the kitchen was another favorite place to sit and watch the crazy gorgeous thunderstorms. The kitchen is awesome- especially because our budget didn't allow for much eating out. The bedrooms are nice- each with their own bathroom. We felt very secure and comfortable there. Like another reviewer mentioned, we did have a checkout issue. My husband requested that the owner return our complete deposit. There were some house issues that the owner never took care of during our stay- and we thought it would be fair if she returned the complete deposit. To which she responded by accusing my husband of being sexist and eventually digressed to telling us we must have marital problems. At no point was it about the money and if she would have said, "hey, I don't think your troubles are worth $100.00 so meet me in the middle"- or even, "I hear you but I can't afford to give you back the money" we would have been fine with that. But the fact that she resorted to insults and really strange accusations (including an accusation that we broke a really old water pump)- increased my desire to get the money back based on principle. Kudos to her, she did the right thing in the end and returned the full deposit but only after several strange emails. Oh well. Like I said, the caretakers could not have been better. Definitely shining stars of the trip. I could see how people who were staying for just a week would have a more seamless exit and would give it 5 stars. There was a little headache at the end but it in no way overshadowed our month there.
