Comfy close to beaches quiet cottage...

5 of 5
I have vacationed at this cottage for several years and have found it perfect for us. It is off the beaten path, with plenty of privacy, yet minutes to the different towns and beaches. Long Point, our favorite, is about a mile to the gate and on one of the access roads. The cottage is an open plan in the living room and kitchen/dining. A wrap around deck entices you to eat outdoors and lounge on the deck. The kitchen is updated and had everything we needed- we are on a modest budget and tend to cook most meals at home during our vacation. There is always some air traffic during our stay- but we haven't found it bothersome as we are on the go seeing the sites and spending our days on the beach or biking on the many bike paths across the island. I have found the owner, Gail, to be always available and very responsive, considering our needs to be her priority and tending to our questions in a timely manner. In the beginning our cleaning fee was included in the lease, but returned to us as we left the cottage in great condition. Now it is no longer included in our lease. I would recommend that people consider staying here if you want an economical, comfortable, well-maintained home minutes from the local sites and villages.

Unbelievable

5 of 5
The location of this home is truly beautiful. It is peaceful, quiet, scenic, private. The cabin itself is just as described--comfortable, simple. The owners were terrific. I was able to enjoy kayaking, canoeing, sailing, swimming, birdwatching and hiking. I also did bicycling, although the sandy road made it challenging to start right at the house. All in all--it was a perfect place for a retreat.

Peace and Simplicity

5 of 5
This lovely antique camp is a beautiful gem. It is situated high on the bank of Deep Bottom Cove on Great Tisbury Pond. Our family spent many hours outside on the large deck, from after breakfast until nightfall. We enjoyed nightly cocktails on the deck watching the sunset. We had dinner outside at the table on the deck, we read and napped in the hammock. You will be able to swim right outside the house, and can take kayaks to the private ocean beach if you want the waves. It is very, very quiet. We were able to set up a wireless hotspot using our VZ phones, if you need to check internet. On arrival, all was clean and tidy. You cannot see the smaller cabin from the larger camp. You will love it if you like simple antique cabins and the outdoors. It reminds me of the Appalachian Mountain Club's Cardigan Lodge. I slept in the separate masterbedroom cabin and the bed was really comfortable. Also, for anyone wondering about bugs at the end of June, we couldn't believe it, we never even opened our bottle of bug repellant. Plenty of room for kids to wander or ride bikes w/out major roads, yet not so far from Edgartown that you can't spontaneously say, let's go to town for ice cream. We like to go out to lunch or dinner there a few times during the week. I've been coming to the Vineyard for decades and this place is very special, we're returning in 20015.
