Best Place to Stay in South Dartmouth!

5 of 5
When I knew I was returning to South Dartmouth on vacation, I knew I would stay here again! This time I brought the rest of my family! This home is large enough for entertaining, extremely clean and well-maintained, inside and out. Everything is as described with extra touches which make you feel so welcome and at home. The owners are very helpful in answering all your questions about the house and the area. It is a block away from the beach and the neighborhood is quiet. A great place to walk and the neighbors will smile and wave! The harbor is close by and is very picturesque and relaxing. A day trip to old New Bedford and the Whaling Museum is worth the time with a stop at Freestone's for lunch. Sunrise bakery is great for Portuguese pastries and lunch. There is so much history and beauty to see in the area and a "home away from home" here when you return from your excursions! I would heartily recommend staying here!

Your family reunion spot!

5 of 5
We spent a wonderful family reunion week at this house. It was very large and accommodating for 18+ people. The kitchen is very well stocked from muffin pans to crock pots to a mixer. There were plenty of clean bath towels and the washer and dryer were life savers for all our beach wear. The in-law suite was wonderful for the grandparents... they were able to have their quiet time when needed. The local, private beach was fantastic but if you want bigger surf, Horseneck beach is a 14 mile drive away. The owner was very helpful and accommodating too. Would definitely recommend this house and would consider coming back in future years.

Unique and wonderful retreat

5 of 5
We have stayed at The Barn many time over the years and love it. Architecturally I've never seen another place like it. The "chapel" is a great place to read or play ping pong on hot afternoons, the deck has wonderful views of the bay, and there are magical paths through the woods down to the water. The state park is close by and wonderful for swimming. And if you have a canoe the Slocum River is one of the most well preserved and beautiful rivers in the Northeast.
