Charming and Very Accommodating Hosts

5 of 5
These cottages are well-appointed and perfect for larger groups. Our extended family stayed here for a week (5 adults and 4 children) and we all had great fun. The back house has a spiral staircase to the second floor that the kids enjoyed climbing. Both houses have fully-equipped kitchens and good/large tables for game-playing. Both have have wonderful views across the road to the water (but better from the front house, naturally). It's about a 10 minute walk into the charming town of Rockport; the walk is right along the water and shops, and we highly recommend it. We had a slight problem with the property, and Meghan was very gracious and gave us a partial refund that compensated us for the inconvenience. We very much enjoyed our stay and will definitely return the next time we are in Rockport.

GLORIOUS

5 of 5
My first time in Gloucester with some family friends. This place has a great view and is basically equidistant between Gloucester and Rockport downtowns. Easy cab ride (~$8) to either area. The house was very clean and has everything you need. There is a huge open floor plan on the first floor with so much room for activities! And the view from the deck: unbelievable! My 'family' was a bunch of adults in their late 20s-30s so we didn't use any of the childrens supplies, but they are there if you need them. Fully stocked with beach toys, games, a basketball hoop, and the list goes on. All in all, a great house!

Just what we needed

5 of 5
We enjoyed a month at The Little Red House, and it was just what we needed. It was compact but comfortable, and we loved having the fenced in yard and charming back yard to enjoy with our two small dogs. Likewise, its proximity to the small park next door made for nice privacy and easy walks with our canine companions. One Saturday we enjoyed an entire day of a free acoustic music festival at the park. The house has a small dining area, but we often ate our dinner meals at a table under the front window overlooking the ocean. We enjoyed the weekly Rockport Farmer's Market and also the one in Gloucester, making meals of smoked fish and cheese and bread from the markets. We found a very nice dog park in Gloucester as well as a wonderful little coffee shop and bakery called La Sicilia. We took daily walks from the house to various stretches of coastal scenery or through neighborhoods where yards were filled with summer blooms. We also walked to the annual Lobstafest, which is a charity event where lobster, corn, chowder, and watermelon are supplied along with live music. Our trip to Wolf Hollow followed by ice cream at the nearby Down River Ice Cream were also very memorable. The house manager was wonderful and helped us even before we knew we needed help! She showed us the paper house (!) and a quarry in an absolutely beautiful setting. We would recommend this property to anyone as long as they can negotiate the spiral stairs, which are steep and could be a challenge for some. If you enjoy simplicity and are looking for walkable access to Rockport, then this may be the house for you. It certainly worked for us!
