Retreat and comfort

4 of 5
Property is humble but tastefully done. The inner space of the boathouse was warm and inviting. I would love to be napping there right now. Kitchen was well equipped. A bit high priced; had the neighboring property been filled with people, it may not have been so tranquil. Otherwise pack your goods and get away to nature, beautiful trails just steps away.

Everything we hoped for and more!

This place is fantastic! The location is perfect - a very short drive to the downtown attractions, yet away from the hustle and bustle, and you can see the entrance to the Plantation from the front yard. The beach access was perfect for our family of four little boys. They eagerly traveled the short walk down the private gated boardwalk every day, excited to see what treasures they could find on the beach (crabs were their favorite!). There were waves, but even my three year old was at home near the water. When the wind blew, we were even able to fly small kites. The lifeguards are at their posts all day long and really watched the swimmers and kids on the beach. All this just steps from the back door. I was worried about the reviews stating the beach was rocky, but the kids loved rearranging the rocks and there was plenty of sand, although water shoes were a good idea. The house was in great condition - clean, welcoming and comfortable. We were able to have a lobster dinner with corn on the cob in the well-stocked kitchen. The granite counter top on the island was big enough to house the puzzles we completed. Having the brand new washing machine and dryer was fantastic - one of my favorite features! There was plenty of room for our family of 8 to stay the week. Having coffee on the porch in the morning was a great way to start the day. The jetted tub was the perfect way to end it! Kyle was amazing about answering any of our questions and always got right back to us. She went above and beyond to be sure our kids were happy (thanks for the DVD player!) and made us feel like we were truly on vacation. There were only a couple of negatives. There weren't sheets or blankets for the pull-out couch or extras in case we needed to change them, but Kyle took care of that for us. Also, the cable didn't work when we got there and was out for a couple of days, but I think that was a fluke thing and was also taken care of as soon as they possibly could - thank goodness for that DVD player!! It would also have been nice to have shades or blinds on ALL of the windows for the early morning hours. The only thing we found in the kitchen that was missing was a can opener. All in all, it really was the perfect vacation rental for us!

Absolutely Delightful!

This cottage is so awesome I will find it hard to describe in this review. I did want to write a review though, because it should definitely have more!! We arrived on a Friday afternoon to a clean, well-appointed, charming and perfectly outfitted home. Google maps doesn't quite get you to the front door, but after driving around the dirt-road loop we found the house and parked outside. Upon entering the home you see the living room and the most comfortable couch and chair you have ever sat in! Both the bedrooms are on the left, and the mattresses/linens/pillows were excellent. There were window fans available in both to keep the house cool. The bathroom was updated and includes a jet-shower that we really enjoyed. The kitchen was outfitted with everything we needed, including many pots/pans and drinking glasses for all sorts of libations (beer glasses, water glasses, rocks glasses, martini glasses, wine glasses - you name it, they have at least a set!). The back patio was beautiful and secluded - we spent a lot of time here chatting and eating meals. It is well shaded to stay cool in the summer. There's even a hammock available (which my nephews LOVED when they came to visit for a day). The owner, Joanne, was great to work with too - she stopped in on Saturday to make sure everything was to our expectations, and gave her cell number in case we ran into any problems - which we didn't. The only things that I would recommend to make future renters more comfortable is instructions on how to work the Air Conditioning (we couldn't figure it out, but didn't contact the owner for clarification because the weather was too beautiful to turn it on after the first night), and to make sure there's propane in the grill tank. Of note to other renters: SO WORTH IT!! This is a gem of a property and we're already trying to figure out how to rent it again. The stove isn't very high-powered, so cook something low-stakes first so you get a feel for it. Take a walk to the beach (it is so close and beautiful), and expect the neighbors to be very friendly and kind to you (we were given tips on the area, zucchini and blue fish in the span of three days). A huge THANK YOU to Joanne for making this property available for rent - it will forever hold a special place in our hearts. I could not have been any happier to use it for our trip.
