              Spacious House on Gorgeous Property!

              5 of 5
This large old house provided plenty of room for ten members of our family (four generations) to spend quality vacation time together. Whether rocking on the porch swing, slugging around on the living room couches, or spending long relaxing meals at the dining room table, there was never a sense of being too crowded. The property has an extensive backyard with apple trees and some picnic tables for enjoying the outdoors, and the private access to the pond and use of the canoe and rowboat was a real treat. Boating on the pond was enhanced by the fact that the pond is undeveloped and there were no other people around--just us and nature. Another thing--the outdoor fire pit was a wonderful experience, too. We built a fire on several nights and enjoyed roasting marshmallows and making 'smores under the stars. The house and property were all exactly as advertised--much to our surprise and delight. The place is well-maintained, and was clean upon our arrival. (We made sure to return it to that condition before leaving). Although there is an air hockey table and foosball table, we spent most of our time outdoors or on the porch (barbecuing). If the weather had forced us indoors more often, we might have taken advantage of those perks. We would definitely recommend this rental to others--it's close to all of the action in the Berkshires, yet a perfect hideaway for those who want to get back to nature and relax. And there are lots of local establishments where you can get farm-fresh ingredients for your dining pleasure. (We had fresh-picked corn-on-the-cob nearly every night!)

So much to do and see. . .

              5 of 5
. . . and that was before we even left the home. Wonderful three level home (you're renting a home, not a house.) to use as a base for exploring the Berkshires or as a destination in itself. Immaculate, spacious property in a beautiful setting on a lake. The open layout of the house is great and kids have the best bedroom (with a bunk bed) upstairs with a loft like balcony. A place away for them and still in earshot for you. Plenty of entertainment in the basement for young and old (limited channels on the tv so bring DVD's for the kids. . . but thats not why you are there anyway.) and a serene setting on the main level to enjoy the view any time of year. After arriving at night, the first thing I did upon waking and walking to the great room, was run back and get my camera. Don't let the 30 min travel to skiing keep you away in the winter, it is well worth it. The rest of the seasons sell themselves. Well appointed kitchen, plenty of housewares to take care of everyone, comfy beds, enough bathrooms and the owners belongings are minimal and out of the way. The only thing that keeps this from being a slam dunk, especially in the winter, is no fire place. Almost didn't choose this property because of it, but it would have been my loss. The owners are very amicable, the transactions went smoothly and they had plenty of helpful hints and tips for the home and the area. I'm trying to figure out now, when the next time I could get back there. Don't hesitate to choose this property. I attest that I am not a friend or family member nor am I being paid to write this review. . . ^_^
