water sports paradise

5 of 5
Our family of nine (ages 13 to 82) has only praise for Dock-on-the-Bay. It is aptly named, with its own dock on the small River connecting Meetinghouse Pond with the bay and eventually the Atlantic. It is paradise for water sports enthusiasts. Kayaks come with the house. Boats are easily rented at the marina on the pond; we’ve also rented paddle boards that the “kids” (up to age 62) loved. Nauset Beach, Orleans Center and East Orleans are but a very short drive away. The house consists of four “pods”. Our son-in-law, an architect, loves the concept which offers privacy and/or togetherness, whatever your pleasure might be at any time of the day. It accommodates up to 10 people easily. The largest pod has a relatively spacious kitchen (for Cape Cod), an inviting “great room” for lounging and dining, and a fabulous deck where most dining and lounging take place, weather permitting, plus a bedroom for two and full bathroom. Another pod contains two bedrooms and a large bathroom: each of the other two pods contains two beds and half-bath – the great outdoor shower is only a few steps away. And the views from the pods’ own decks and the main pod deck are delightful. It’s hard to beat resting, reading, sipping wine or dining on the deck while boats ply the waters just off your backyard. We’ve rented Dock-on-the-Bay for several years and eagerly look forward to 2015. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we have.

Amazing, Well Kept Home with Many Amenities

5 of 5
2500 characters will not allow me to do this home justice. Lets start out by saying that Richard and Ann are amazing people that value your experience in their home and are invested in your stay and enjoyment. The house is immaculate, spacious, and chalked full of amenities. The home features 4 decks (the 4th deck is on the roof and offers an amazing view of the surrounding area and Nauset Inlet), a large kitchen, large dining room table, large sitting room/family room with flat screen TV and cable. Toys, toys, toys for the kids to enjoy. A selection of games and 4 bedrooms. The main house has 3 bedrooms and an adjoined cottage has an additional bedroom, kitchenette and sitting room. This is a great house for a large party. We had 5 adults and 2 children there comfortably with room to spare. All of your beach needs are there (umbrellas, chairs, toys, coolers, etc etc etc). There is ping pong and pool, and outdoor shower and a big yard that the kids can run around in. Oh there is also a large selection of books and DVDs that can be enjoyed as well. Just a great place to stay. From a activities perspective, you are a short walk from Nauset Inlet which is a calm ocean cove that is somewhat rocky (I would recommend aqua socks or some kind of strapped sandal), but features an array of creatures (horse shoe crabs, hermit crabs, birds, fish and snails) to observe. The calm water is shallow and great for kids. We spent an afternoon out there an it was great. The community features access to Nauset Beach, but it is a little more of a walk and features climbing down a steep set of stairs and making a trek over a boardwalk that is long to get to the beach, but its FREE to those that go in season. For people like me that went off season, we just packed up the van for a short 5 min drive down to the public access point and walked right onto the beach without much of a walk (and it was Free, but on season it is $15/day). Nauset Beach features surf that you could go surfing in but a great sandy beach that can be enjoyed by all. During our visit we observed several pods of seals swimming by. You are a 5-10 min drive into Orleans Center, which features 2 grocery stories, many great restaurants and other things to do. Overall it was a great stay and I would highly recommending staying at this property if you are in the market for a Cape Cod house. The property is clean, well maintained, historic, full of amenities and is great for families.

WOW WOW

What a vacation home. This home is perfect , with all the amenities of home, from the wonderful backyard for bar b ques to all of the things you could need in the kitchen. Location is perfect , a early morning walk through the large trees in the neighborhood , or a short stroll down to the beach . The local town of Orleans is quite charming and easy to get around , nice people , great food , easy shopping and some fine baseball in the Cape Cod baseball league in season. There was four of us from 45 to 70 years old and we vacation 3 to 4 times per year, this was by far one of the most relaxing and enjoyable vacations I can remember. We would like to thank the owners for allowing us to share their beautiful and wonderful home, we can't wait to return. THANK -YOU.
