Beautiful Water View

4 of 5
The villa is in a nice location- a little off the beaten path so it is quiet. The view from inside as well as from the front deck is lovely. The private beach is a short walk from the villa - it is great for fishing, kayaking, swimming. It is pond swimming so no waves and not a huge sandy area. We really enjoyed both front and back decks. This property could really benefit from an update. The kitchen and bathrooms are functional but not that attractive. A lot of the windows do not work very well - hard to open and close them. The only window treatments are roller blinds in the bedrooms and wooden blinds in the living/dining area. The third bedroom is a loft which makes it difficult for the occupants to sleep if others are downstairs in the kitchen/living area. All in all we enjoyed our stay. Restaurants, beaches, shopping, kayaking and biking were all great. We also found the people on Martha's Vineyard to be really nice and helpful as was the owner. She was accessible and answered all our questions promptly.

Great Oak Bluffs cottage

4 of 5
We had a wonderful stay in this comfortable and conveniently located cottage withing walking distance to all the attractions of Oak Bluffs: 2 blocks to the town green, walking distance to the ferry port and bus stop, 1 block to Circuit Ave., 2 blocks to the supermarket, 2 blocks to Cottage City, 2.5 blocks to the beach...fabulous. The owner was helpful and attentive. There was one master bedroom downstairs and 4 bedrooms upstairs. The outdoor shower was wonderful. The only downsides were that the upstairs half bath was built into a piked roof, so a bit uncomfortable for tall people and very hot. There was no air conditioning, so the upstairs bedrooms did become especially warm, although this may be the standard for cottages on the Vineyard (this was our first visit). Also, linens are not provided, which took me be surprise as a first-time visitor to the Vineyard, but apparently this is common as well; the owner helped me arrange linen rental. With 9 of us, we could have used another bathroom, but it wasn't a huge problem. Aside from that, I would highly recommend this cottage. Great location and value. Perfect for meeting up with relatives, as we did. Note that the steep staircases may be hazardous for toddlers. Enjoy!
