Wonderful home, wonderful location

4 of 5
We were so very lucky to find this home for our vacation! The house comes equipped with ample towels, linens, and two kitchens. The place was clean and there was plenty of bright, lovely space for my husband and I and 5--yes, 5!--children. Erin is a delightful host; she is fun and very helpful! The location is wonderful. I even allowed the older children to venture the few blocks into town and walk around Bearskin Neck by themselves without any concern. They used the house's outdoor shower many times after enjoying the beach. Overall, wonderful and we would stay again on a trip back to Cape Ann.

Lovely New England home

5 of 5
This is a lovely home on the North Shore, only a few minutes from the charming town of Manchester. The house was clean and well maintained. There is an eat-in kitchen with everything you need for cooking and serving meals. The kitchen table is in a bay window area overlooking the back garden area with chairs and a banquette covered in a country French print. The lovely living room has arrangements of comfortable armchairs and couches covered in floral chintz with a door opening to the back patio. There is also a beautiful wood-paneled library with comfortable seating around a large flat screen TV and a dining room that seats ten or so people. The upstairs bedrooms sleep 8 comfortably and are well furnished with good linens and plenty of towels. The house is set on a long, curving driveway with a lot of land in front of and behind the house, where our son could practice his soccer. We really enjoyed the town of Manchester, which has several restaurants (The Landing was our favorite) and one of the best beaches around (Singing Beach). (White and Black beaches are also close by, and we enjoyed late afternoon walks there.) Gloucester and Rockport are very close, and we enjoyed having dinner in Gloucester and visiting the many artist areas in both towns, as well as Halibut Point State Park in Rockport. Crane's Beach is about a twenty minute drive, and we spent a day there. It's one of the most spectacular beaches we've been to. (You have to pay to park and it gets crowded on nice days, so it's best to get there on the early side.) The house is also close to the town of Essex, which is known for its many antique stores, as well as Woodman's, the best place for lobster and fried seafood in the area. (Best not to go during the busiest times, as the line can get quite long. We discovered that you can order take out and then go pick it up.) The house, with its back patio, spacious lawn, and proximity to beaches, is great for the summer, but it's also a cozy house with several fireplaces and a library that would seem to be perfect for fall and winter rentals as well. We intend to go back when we visit the area again.

"A Little Bit of heaven"

5 of 5
My family of 9 including three generations spent a marvelous week at 1 Norwood Heights. We were familiar with the area from a previous stay at another home and loved the beach but wanted a larger place. From the moment I walked in I was thrilled with the house. There are three levels so each family had their own space and privacy. The bedrooms are large, beautifully decorated, lots of windows and lovely antique furniture. The kitchen was great, it had everything a cook would need for a special meal. We spent a lot of time together at the large dining room table. The living room with a huge fireplace, comfortable sofas became the place for the three children to put on "shows" play with the marvelous building blocks and listen to grandparents read stories. The yard is very special, beautiful blue hydrangeas, lots of trees and bushes for playing hide and seek, great chairs for relaxing. The house clearly has a history, wide floor boards, beautiful paneling, lovely and unusual hardware on the doors all adding to the beauty of the house. It is well cared for and clearly loved-we look forward to returning.
