Great house convenient to Butternut and Great Barrington

5 of 5
This house was perfect for our ski weekend to Butternut. It is exactly as advertised and Carol was very responsive and helpful (which was great because our plans didn't really come together until very late). We were two adults and five teenagers and although we were skiing all day, for the short time we were in the house there was plenty of room. The kids spent most of it sprawled across the living room watching TV. The three bedrooms upstairs worked well for us...the 5th teen was a late edition to the trip and slept on a sleeping bag on the floor of one of the bedrooms, but he could have just as easily slept on one of the couches downstairs as they were comfortable. The entire house was very clean and well kept. It is right on the main road through Great Barrington and within a mile of a bunch of restaurants, etc. Ski Butternut is less than a five minute drive away. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to friends.

Excellent Stay!

5 of 5
What an amazing place to stay! Immaculate to a T!! I was having trouble never having been to the Berkshires before and thought I wanted to stay in Lenox. We were SO happy to be removed from town and noise, whilst only being 7 minutes away from downtown Great Barrington. This location is so close to many towns and is easy to to explore them. The property itself amazed us with its huge yard and detailed interior. We loved it! Anni was fantastic in her expedient communication. Honestly, we have nothing but rave reviews for this oasis in the Berkshires!

Perfect

5 of 5
This house on Lake Buel is exactly what I was hoping to find -- something that reminds me of camp as a kid, but with people I actually like. I just wanted a place where my family could have fun and relax. That's what this house lets you do. Close enough to the lake that you can swim or kayak just seconds after you think, Hey, I'd like to swim or kayak. A view of the same lake that lets you enjoy the water even when you're not in it. It's also close enough to Great Barrington -- its great restaurants, grocery stores, and ice cream shops -- that you're in the woods one minute and in the thick of it the next. For us, the location (about 1.5 hours from our house in central Connecticut) is ideal. The house itself is perfect, too -- it's exactly what we wanted when we searched for a place on a lake. All of the technogizmos work great, but we hardly use them. It's not how we like to unwind. And the place is rustic, which is what we wanted. Who wants a swank condo for a summertime, lakeside respite? Here, I actually read books. I unwind. We take long afternoon naps. We cook a lot. And we spend our time playing in the water, collecting rocks, and coloring with our two little girls. The best part about the place, though, isn't the place at all. It's the people. Lois and Bruce couldn't be nicer, treating us (and everyone, I imagine) like extended family -- not in the creepy, geez, we wish they'd go away kind of way. They have their space, you have yours, but their home is as open as are their hearts.
