We just returned from a wonderful week in Aquinnah. The house is modern, clean, large, with a good layout. It has a large living room and kitchen and the bathrooms are also quite large. You can hear the Atlantic from the house and there is a nice outdoor patio and grill area. There is also plenty of parking. The beach is also beautiful with wonderful dunes, and clean sand that goes on for miles. You also get a wonderful sunset.
Aquinnah is a more secluded part of Martha's Vineyard so you can go down to the beach and have it nearly for your own which is great if you have a dog or just want some peace. Its definitely a more tranquil part of the Island.
With a few small touches that would not even cost much this house would be great and a luxury property. The main problem is that I don't think it was ever lived in. For example, there is a Viking 6 burner oven but no microwave which is not practical. The dishes and pots and pans are old and not what you would expect in a luxury priced home. Also the towels in the bathrooms need to be replaced with a higher quality towels and a larger number. There are no toilet roll holders and only 1 towel rack in the bathrooms. Also regular household supplies such as Dishwasher Detergent, Detergents, Toilet Paper, Kitchen Paper, Hand-Soaps, were either not available or not enough for the week. The Wifi only works in the living room because its location in the basement does not transmit the signal throughout. The outdoor shower is very convenient but it would be better to place a stone under it so you do not have your feet in the grass and mud.
Finally, the access to the beach is complicated. The house is located 200-300 yards across the street from the beach but the official access route that gets you to the beach is about 1 mile away and you cannot park near the access because the resident parking permits have expired.
With a few small touches and better amenities this would be a really nice property.
