Great Time on Waquoit Bay

5 of 5
We were one of 3 couples staying at your cottage; it was more like a home than a cottage. Nice and clean, wonderful place, all of the amenities you would need. Having a dock for our boats was perfect. Short boat ride to sandy beaches, warm water, fishing, and once out of the Bay it was a short trip to Oak Bluffs, nice day on The Vineyard without the hassle of the ferry. We brought our Bocce and Ladder Ball games, so the lawn area was used every afternoon. Grilling was convenient with your gas grill right there. The cottage was just as nice, if not nicer than your listing, pictures and descriptions accurate, as well as the amenities listed. We look forward to coming back next summer if you would have us.

West Falmouth Vacation Paradise

5 of 5
What a wonderful week we had on Chapaquoit Island...we already miss the "Playhouse" terribly. The home is just adorable. A true cottage feel yet at the same time, there is room to breath. The beatiful main room has wonderful vaulted ceilings with exposed beams - a very comfortable living room area and dining area - adorned with lovely furnishings. The galley kitchen was terrific. Filled with everything you need and fun to cook in. The bedrooms were super comfortable and very pretty. I must also say that the rooms were very quiet. I never heard my kids in the morning when they were playing in their bedroom! A very wel built home. The deck was delightful to sit out and have dinner on or just relax and read. The views of the property from the deck are breathtaking. The grounds are stunning. Beautful landscaping, a fabulous hammock for reading and napping and I must not forget the epic swing out of a fairy tale. My 10 and 7 year old LOVED the swing. We did not use the fire pit - but it looked awesome. We enjoyed playing tennis a couple times - what a bonus! Fishing and swimming off the big pier was a blast. Swimming and catching hermit crabs on little pier beach at low tide was so nice - especially since you walk for 1 minute and there you are! But, our favorite beach experience was the private end of Chapaquoit Beach - soft sand, great sand bars for water/wave fun and beautful views and just the privacy...loved it. I enjoyed power walks around the peninsula, as well as walks after dinner, and I also wanted to comment that the other neighbors on Chapaquoit Island were incredibly friendly - always saying hello and asking if we are enjoying the island - just so nice. We cannot wait to return to this hidden gem. Hasty, the owner - was wonderful to deal with and we are so glad we found this property via homeaway.com. Thanks so much, Hasty, we just love your home and cannot wait to return in the future!

Beautiful location

4 of 5
We stayed a weekend for a cousins wedding we attended in October ‘08. Quiet neighborhood but close to downtown. House was very clean. Larger than we expected. Bright and sunny. Big backyard deck with outdoor shower. Bathroom has separate tub and shower. Three bedrooms – beds were comfortable. Closet space was minimal but tons of hooks and nooks to put things. We hate too many trinkets and dust collectors so this was heaven to us. The owner's family (mother, father, sister and her husband) live across the street and were very accommodating. Great welcome and made us feel like family. All amenities were provided - lots of cutlery, glasses, blankets and towels etc. Owners leave some food items there for your visit - including a new bottle of original maple syrup for your pancakes in the morning!! Delicious also on french toast. The night before the wedding we had family members over for dinner and they were impressed by the home. Weather was great - walks along the dirt road by the bay (beautiful views!!) was a draw to make us come back again. Beach was a walk away. Two things you may consider before booking. This is a pet friendly home - if pet allergies are a concern you may want to bring your allergy medication. Stairs up to the loft is steep – great spot for kids, huge area with TV and king size bed but difficult for elders to climb. Owners are planning to expand the home in the future so this is a steal for a great location at the moment. They also gave us names and telephone numbers of two other homes on the street that rent if we wanted to do an extended family visit with other members. We will be back!!
