Great spot for a long weekend with friends

5 of 5
This house was a pleasure! We were a group of adults meeting to plan an annual music event for the autumn, and to eat, drink, and have a fun weekend. So we needed a place with a lot of individual beds, a spacious, well-kept kitchen, big dining area, and open space to play music together. It was perfect for our purposes. It is nicely appointed, reasonably well maintained and a beautiful house and location. As it was winter, we didn't use the pool or hot tub, but we enjoyed walks around the pond, and wandering out to the deck when the weather permitted. We hope to return!

NIRVANA IN NEW ENGLAND !!!

5 of 5
Can't imagine a more perfect spot! We ranged in age from 1 week to sweet 70, & spent three glorious weeks in September. The charming entry courtyard led to a wonderfully spacious waterside treasure. Upper level had the perfect open floor plan; beautifully outfitted & equipped large kitchen, generous wood farm table (sat 8) overlooking Little Harbor, & most comfortable lounging area with plenty of seating & big, stone, gas fireplace. So welcoming & family friendly! We spent much of each day exploring Marblehead on foot, checking out all the fabulous parks, Marblehead Harbor, & of course, the charming town, with it's family-owned shops & restaurants. The flavor is truly special. Heading back to our beautiful beach cottage, we would enjoy the beach, the water, the fabulous deck that stretched all across the front. It just doesn't get better than this!!

Another wonderful stay!

5 of 5
We just came back from another wonderful stay at The House by the Sea. As in prior years, the house was very comfortable for a multi-generational group (grandparents through grandchildren ranging from 2 to 12), providing everything needed to make all ages happy - very clean, comfortable furniture, good wi-fi, upgraded bathrooms (with good water pressure and enough hot water to handle large post-beach groups), new and well-stocked kitchen, and of course the porch swing! The kitchen is fully stocked with a wide range of pots, pans and utensils (including oyster shucking knives and lobster crackers) and more than enough plates, glasses and flatware to handle dinner for a 17-plus person crowd one night. The patio outside the kitchen has both a gas grill and a charcoal grill, for grill purists. The house maintains its charm along with its modern comforts and the long front porch and big windows can't be improved on for catching the ocean breezes and beautiful views, with the added benefit of a screened side porch. We did not need it this year, but the air conditioning is a nice option to have in case of really hot, still weather. We appreciated the well-stocked beach gear, with umbrellas, beach chairs, buckets and shovels for the little children, boogie boards for the older children and a kayak. For people looking at the house with little children, we have been in the house with children as young as 1 and had no problems - even the stairs to the beach are fine, as there are several landings for breaks if you are carrying a young child up and down. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly and lovely for runs and walks. The beach is really wonderful, and similar to the bay-side Cape beaches, has a long shallow stretch at low tide that is perfect for young children, while it is more than deep enough at high tide for tall adults to swim comfortably. There is a farm a short drive away for fresh herbs and vegetables, a good grocery store about a 10 minute drive away in the Pinehills, and lots of local ice cream places a short walk away. We will be back again next year and dreaming about it - the swing, the porch, the beach and everything - until we arrive!
