Great place to stay for our group of 15

5 of 5
We had a wonderful time celebrating our daughter's graduation from Gordon College with our extended family in this lovely home. We took advantage of the spacious game room, the large dining room as well as the outside deck area for meals, and being able to gather with everyone together in the great room. The master bedroom was lovely with the two floor-length mirrors and attached bathroom. This was especially helpful as our four girls were able to get ready in there so the rest of our guests could use the other two bathrooms in the house. We would definitely love to return again!

Fabulous Family Gathering and vacation!

5 of 5
This lovely home is exactly as it appears in the pictures with great amenities! The booking was a simple process and the owner, Fran Murphy is extremely responsive to email/phone calls should you have any questions or issues. The house is attractive and well maintained - and extremely COMFORTABLE. The open floor plan on the main level combined with the additional kitchen nook, and the enclosed front porch allowed for separate large and small group activities. We were in town for a family event - seven adults and two small children and the house provided plenty of room with the 4 bedrooms, 3 baths. The sitting room off one of the bedrooms had a pull out sofa that worked perfectly for the two small children! The upper deck is the perfect place to read, sit and talk, and enjoy the view and sounds of the ocean. The kitchen is large and easy to work in with a wonderful 5 burner stove and large oven - plenty of dishes, pots, pans, and utensils! There is also a gas grill for barbecuing. As you can see from the pictures there is plenty of room for parking. We hosted a barbecue for other family and friends - a total of 40 - with plenty of room to spare. The large garage and the fenced yard were added bonuses for our party! Fran keeps the house stocked with all the needed amenities - including plenty of bedding and towels, washer and dryer, iron and ironing board. There is also cable TV if you can tear yourself away from the beach that is located just across the street! The location of property is perfect - within walking distance of a small general store and an easy drive to larger, better priced markets, several restaurants, and pharmacies. We particularly liked Harbor Side Liquors and Shaw's Market, just up the road in Cohasset. On your way to Shaws stop for the delicious breakfast at Jamie's Pub and Grill. We were all sad to see our vacation end and hope to come back and stay in the house again. We would recommend staying at Murphy's Beach House to everyone. We had a wonderful time!

This home was perfect for our week stay.

5 of 5
My daughter ran the Boston Marathon this year, and we needed space for six adults for a week. This home in Gloucester fit our needs perfectly. My wife and I arrived first and found the house easily. Maneuvering our seven passenger van into the garage was accomplished easily enough. Then she and I began our visit immediately with a nap in the comfortable chaise lounges in the sun room. A FABULOUS way to recover from a day of travel. Our son and daughter arrived soon after with their partners. There was plenty of room for us all. We spent most of our time in the family room just off the spacious kitchen. We enjoyed fires in the wood stove a couple of nights and there were intense games of Chinese Checkers played throughout the week! Occasionally the sounds of someone playing the piano would come from the living room. We made many breakfasts in the well equipped kitchen and one evening we made grilled chicken on the JennAire grill. We made two day trips to Boston. Driving to Boston was an easy trip. Another day trip was to York Harbor, Maine with many sights to see along the way. The rest of the week we enjoyed the area of Cape Ann. Hiking and bouldering in Dogtown was a highlight. We also enjoyed the walk out from the Gloucester lighthouse. Treasures to bring home were purchased in the downtown shops, (an easy walk from this home). In Gloucester we enjoyed visiting the brewery, and we had excellent food at all the restaurants we visited on Cape Ann. On our last night in Gloucester we went to the Seaport Grille, just down the hill from the house. We wish we had found this restaurant sooner during our stay, because we wanted to eat there again! We had a relaxing home to return to each day after our adventures. I can't think of anything I would change to make our experience with this owner and house better. I will definitely seek out this home again if my travels bring me back to Gloucester. Thank you, Kathy Eckles, for a great experience.
