Mindstopping views and Comfortable Living

5 of 5
The home sits on a broad terrace overlooking Meeting House Pond with a stairs leading down to a dock and swimming. Easy access to downtown Orleans and Nauset Beach. Abundant room for walking, private back yard with barbecuing amenities. Many doors to the outside, many views of pond and surrounding area, boats running out to sea, plenty of cooking and gathering space. Many bedrooms, TV and game room, nooks to get lost in, comfortable with the quiet sounds of water at night. We loved this house. It's a great place for a family to spend a week or two -- or even a summer on the Cape. This welcoming home and setting made our stay delightful, hard to leave and eager to return.

water sports paradise

5 of 5
Our family of nine (ages 13 to 82) has only praise for Dock-on-the-Bay. It is aptly named, with its own dock on the small River connecting Meetinghouse Pond with the bay and eventually the Atlantic. It is paradise for water sports enthusiasts. Kayaks come with the house. Boats are easily rented at the marina on the pond; we’ve also rented paddle boards that the “kids” (up to age 62) loved. Nauset Beach, Orleans Center and East Orleans are but a very short drive away. The house consists of four “pods”. Our son-in-law, an architect, loves the concept which offers privacy and/or togetherness, whatever your pleasure might be at any time of the day. It accommodates up to 10 people easily. The largest pod has a relatively spacious kitchen (for Cape Cod), an inviting “great room” for lounging and dining, and a fabulous deck where most dining and lounging take place, weather permitting, plus a bedroom for two and full bathroom. Another pod contains two bedrooms and a large bathroom: each of the other two pods contains two beds and half-bath – the great outdoor shower is only a few steps away. And the views from the pods’ own decks and the main pod deck are delightful. It’s hard to beat resting, reading, sipping wine or dining on the deck while boats ply the waters just off your backyard. We’ve rented Dock-on-the-Bay for several years and eagerly look forward to 2015. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we have.

very nice trip

4 of 5
Overall we enjoyed our stay. The cottage was a little smaller than I had thought and if it were not for the beautiful weather and our being able to eat breakfast outside each morning, breakfast would have presented a problem. The kitchen is too small to eat in. But the mornings were beautiful and we had breakfast watching the small sail boats go by. A couple of nights were chilly and we should have asked for directions on how to turn on the heat, our fault that we didn't. The property is well maintained and spotlessly clean. We found everything there that we needed. The location is good for access to the upper Cape and of course easy access to the beaches. I would recommend this property
