Perfect family spot for family

5 of 5
"Mommy -- its a kitchen living room" exclaimed my 4 year old and we entered the main living space. An extended kitchen counter abuts the combined dining/living area, with view stunning lake views. But what I liked best was that I could see the kids playing in the beach/dock area from the main living space and outside deck. I could thus be connected with multiple aspects of the family at the same time. I appreciated the three 'upstairs' bedrooms (main floor) adjacent to each other; and then the downstairs extra room (also game room) in the finished basement. The lovely thing about the finished basement was that it opened onto a patio sitting area, that also faced the lake. We had a lot of fun with the paddle boat (good for young kids); didn't get around to using the other boats but look to doing that on another trip. I also liked how many toys and games were available for children, both inside toys, and beach toys. Plus there were bikes! And finally -- easy hikes / walks at the nearby Quabbin reservoir. I sent this note to a friend: "The reservoir is huge and breathtaking. Fun trails crossing the many little streams that feed the dammed basin. Lot of discussion with the kids about how we can't swim in it because it is drinking water -- the boys then proceeded to lap the water kitty-style, pronouncing it delicious. That and dozen more funny moments."

Outstanding in Every Way!

5 of 5
I just returned from spending 6 nights at this charming cottage on Lashaway Lake. The owners have thought of everything! The cottage was super clean and nicely decorated, and the bathroom had a washer/dryer and included small amenities like toiletries. The kitchen was large and didn't lack for a thing. I loved that there were plenty of sitting options lakeside from lounges, to chairs, to a picnic table. I went out almost every morning with coffee and worked at the table. And the gardens! Flowers everywhere!!! A friend slept on the futon and said it was very comfortable, so no worries there. It was also easy to get around to other areas of the state from this location. By far one of the best places I've ever rented. I'll be back!

The cottage was very picturesque & well-maintained

My family stayed here over my commencement weekend and we were very pleased with the cottage's ambience as well as its facilities. It is a short, pleasant 10 mins drive from Amherst College and I highly recommend it for a family vacation to the Pioneer Valley. The layout of the cottage may be slightly challenging for tall people but that inconvenience didn't cause any untoward harm. Dot was very amiable in settling us in and helpfully suggested interesting activities to keep us occupied outside the graduation festivities.
